Manoir Vertneuf / Re: vorrei essere come il vento (Renata)
« Last post by Letizia Passerini on April 07, 2024, 10:54:06 AM »
“Mhmm” Letizia agreed with her friend. If only there was a way to get to Rybinsk easily. However, there was not only the distance of well over 3000 kilometres (and almost 2000 miles) to overcome but also the fact that training in Rybinsk was not for free. Letizia’s family wasn’t poor, but they weren’t exactly wealthy either. Not that wealthy that they could afford to send her to Rybinsk for several weeks every year anyway. Still, training in Rybinsk with the greatest artistic flyers in the world was a dream that Letizia didn’t want to give up on so easily even if she was aware that she would probably never be one of them.

Renata’s next words came unexpected and totally got her Letitzia’s full attention. Tampering with time was definitely interesting. However, even more fascinating was that Renata admitted to liking a boy. Lettie hadn’t been aware that her friend had a crush. In fact, she hadn’t even considered that Renata might be up for anything as trivial as a crush on a boy at school.

“So… you’d like a reason to speak with him more?” she teased, as she sat down next to her friend and glanced around to make sure no one was overhearing their conversation. She noticed that Renata had blushed and felt rather flattered that her friend confided in her.

“Tell me about him. Do I know him? Is he cute?” She grinned. If needed, Letizia would play Amor and give Renata a reason to meet with this boy, but knowing her friend she probably didn’t need any help. Renata would find a way to get what she wanted.

Beauxbatons Lands / Re: Does this really count as sport...(Dino)
« Last post by Dino Caviezel on April 07, 2024, 10:32:31 AM »
Seventh year was going to be the best yet! The arts initiative last year had been amazing, but Dino was easily as excited about the sports this year. Admittedly, he might not manage to sign up for everything, given his fear of heights, but he could watch and encourage others in anything he didn't feel able to do himself. Oh, and there were some NEWTs too, but he was sure they would take care of themselves.

Dino loved animals and had excitedly watched for the magical ostriches' arrival. He probably hadn't been the first student to see them, but he had been down by their paddock as soon as his final lesson had finished to ask Prof. Said all about them. What they ate, where they came from, how they'd been trained...and when his teacher had suggested he try to get some other students interested in the planned races, Dino had readily agreed.

It had seemed easy at the time, but actually walking up to people and saying 'hey, d'you feel like racing a magical ostrich?" felt a whole lot less simple. He may be of age, but Dino still lacked confidence, particularly when it came to just walking up to people and engaging them in random conversation. So in the end he'd pretty much asked everyone he knew, starting off by just asking what they thought of the sports initiative, then if they wanted to look at the ostriches, and after a day or so he'd talked to quite a few people about it. Trouble was, he couldn't remember exactly who he'd said what to. Dino knew he'd suggested to a couple of people that they go down early and look at the creatures, he just wasn't sure if anyone was going to turn up.

Oh well. Worst case scenario he just wandered down there on his own. At least his little brother had signed up for the actual races, and had apparently convinced a few of the younger kids to do the same. Dino consoled himself with that thought as he pulled his school scarf a bit tighter and headed for the stables. As he got closer, he realised that someone had actually turned up. Dino couldn't help grinning. "Hey, Phil!" he called as he got close enough to be heard, then jogged the last bit of distance so they met up a short distance from the paddock.

"They're amazing, aren't they?" he asked, not bothering to keep the enthusiasm out of his voice "I can't wait to ride one!"

England / Re: [Hogwarts Express]destination: adventure[treasa]
« Last post by Treasa O'Mooney on April 07, 2024, 09:49:38 AM »
An eyebrow shot upwards as the girl who had introduced herself as Sara told her that she didn’t have to talk to her. Indeed, Treasa didn’t have to talk to the first year. She could find a different compartment, one with some of her classmates for example. However, there was little more intriguing than getting a first glimpse of the new arrivals.

“Magical Theory,” Treasa said, her lips curving into a smile. “Yeah, I can see how that’s more intriguing than chatting.” She was teasing and her voice clearly reflected that. Reading was one of Treasa’s hobbies and she liked history books and old wizarding novels. A book on magical theory, however, wasn’t exactly a subject that she’d choose for a long train ride.

“Are you from a wizarding family?” she asked as she sunk down on a seat that made a noise as though it was groaning because of her weight. “I suppose you know all about the houses at Hogwarts. What do you think, which one suits you?”

Treasa’s first impression of the girl was that she would either become a fellow Slytherin or maybe a Ravenclaw. Of course, she didn’t have a lot to go on yet, but the girl didn’t strike her as a Hufflepuff or Gryffindor which clearly spoke in her favour.

Rybinsk / Re: new town burnout [alyona]
« Last post by Alyona Tikhomirova on April 07, 2024, 09:23:04 AM »
Alyona felt that she never got past feeling tense anymore. For the longest time vodka had helped her to relax, but not even her drink of choice did the trick anymore. That didn’t mean that she didn’t drink anymore, though. However, she felt pensieve and sentimental when she drank but at least the alcohol helped her to sleep at night. When her senses were a little dulled she could fall asleep even if that meant facing the nightly demons then.

The investigations were stalling and that meant that there was no sense of normality in sight. The investigators, especially Afanasiy Kirillovich, were questioning them every other day and Alyona wondered what they expected to find out by asking the same questions for weeks. The most infuriating moment had been when they had asked Aglaya to come to the ministry for an official interrogation. It was clearly just a way of bullying her, making her crack and Alyona had protested loudly. She had asked them to explain why they deemed this necessary but in the end her daughter had just given in and told her that they could hardly arrest her for a crime she didn’t commit. Alyona wasn’t convinced of this but there was no way that putting up a fight would leave her victorious.

While she was worried that they’d arrest Aglaya, she was even more worried that the actual murderer was still out there and could very well find another victim while the investigators focused on trying to find evidence against Aglaya.

The weather was pretty nice these days, but Alyona was barely aware of it. However, she decided to leave the flying school for a little walk anyway. The air in her office was stuffy and she felt she couldn’t breathe. Stepping out into the sunlight, she blinked as her eyes got used to the brightness. Metal reflecting the sunlight caught her attention and she took a step closer to a young man holding an army knife in his hand. The wizard looked like she caught him in the act of something forbidden as he put out his cigarette, put away his knife and stood up straight.

“May I ask what you’re doing here?” she asked, stepping closer. Her hand slid into the pocket of her robes where her fingers clenched around the handle of her wand. She had a feeling that she had seen the young man around before, but he was acting suspicious and too much had happened around the flying school for her not to be wary. “I think I’ve seen you around here before. Please remind me, who are you?”

Russia / Re: [ttd] hunger of the pine [alyona]

The fact that the other woman laughed was not reassuring. Alyona was worried that she had hit her head and was feeling utterly confused. When she began to speak, that impression didn’t fade straight away either. A worried expression on her face, Alyona looked at the other woman, ready to examine her for any injuries that the incident might have left her with.

She noticed the graze on the cheekbone and immediately pulled out her wand to fix it. “You don’t mind, do you?” she asked, already flicking her wand to use a quick healing spell. “If anything else hurts, tell me, I’m sure I could help.”

The drink. Alyona smiled and nodded. “Yes, certainly,” she said. As the woman introduced herself, Alyona held out her hand to her. “Alyona Igorovna. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Oksana Viktorovna.”

She pulled out the flask again and then flicked her wand to conjure two small crystal glasses which she filled with the clear liquid. “I hope you like home-distilled vodka,” she said, letting one glass hover in the air in front of Oksana Viktorovna.

Quidditch Pitch / Re: [sports initiative - November 05] Shuntbumps - Rules + Signup
« Last post by Inga on April 07, 2024, 08:37:32 AM »
Most of my BB chars are up to play if anyone is looking for an opponent. :)

In this one against one game wands are not allowed. Players are supposed to knock their opponents off their brooms. In order to achieve this they can use blunt lances and/or fly manoeuvres to unnerve their opponents.

Each game consists of three rounds. The player who wins two or three rounds is the winner of the game and will earn points for their house.

How to play:
You sign up in this thread with your partner and roll a dice [roll*]1d2[/roll] to determine who begins the game.
Then the player who won the dice roll starts a topic, labelling it [shuntbumps Nov 05].

You describe your action, using another dice roll at the end [roll*]1d2[/roll].

Your opponent posts, describing their move.
Now there are two options for player 2
The dice roll is 1: Player 1 won, player 2 posts that they fell off their broom and starts round 2 using a dice roll at the end. Then player 1 posts depending on the dice roll. (1= player 1 won or 2=player 2 won, player 1 starts the new round following the reaction to player 2's action.)
The dice roll is 2: Player 2 won, player 2 describes their move. Then player 1 starts the new round in the same way as they started round one.

After three rounds the game is over and there is one winner.

Every character can be signed up multiple times.

Great Hall / Re: [BoT 2005] some nights {open}
« Last post by Sara Lee on April 07, 2024, 08:34:25 AM »
This was amazing! Sara was having to work very hard not to grin constantly at absolutely everything. This whole day, right from the moment she'd stepped onto the Hogwarts Express, had been perfect, and now she was actually here. Oh, Dad had told her all about what to expect, how big the castle was, the little boats the first years sailed to the castle, the Sorting Hat, the feasting... but words alone couldn't begin to describe what she was seeing.

She had a friend, too. No, that wasn't quite right. Sara was young, but she wasn't naive. She had a someone she'd met on the train, who was older than her and had seemed interesting, and now they were in the same house. That was quite enough to be going on with, and Dad would just be happy that she hadn't sat on her own and read for the entire journey.

There were so many announcements though - how as she going to remember them all? She hadn't got a quill to write them down, and nobody else had either... while Sara didn't much care about rules unless she saw the sense of them, she very much did case about being seen as a 'good girl' by the right sort of adults. Maybe Treasa would help her out if she forgot something? She glanced briefly across the table at the older girl, who seemed to know exactly what was going on.

And then the feast appeared on the table and Sara stopped thinking about anything except how hungry she was as she filled her plate and finally allowed herself an unrestricted smile. The only sounds for the next few minutes were the clinks of cutlery on plates. Once she had enjoyed about half her meal, the small girl looked up thoughtfully, a line appearing between her eyebrows.

"That muggle studies class Professor McGonagall mentioned...it's not compulsory or anything, is it?"
