Magical Painters

Hi there!

A character I'm currently working on Uriah Mizirov comes from a Rich family.

Since the books never mention anything of the sort... I was wondering if it would be plausible to say that his family made their fortune through the selling of magical paintings where the occupants are able to move and talk? Perhaps their company was one of the first to use such methods... I imagine since the books only ever mention such paintings being used in places such as Hogwarts/St. Mungo's and the Ministry that such paintings would be expensive to procure.

Especially since in real life paintings can be expensive to buy let alone the cost I'm sure wizards would be charged for having paintings with the various Charms and Potions applied to them...

Thanks for that I'll browse through the current EFBs to see if I can find the family you're talking about!

The Carlisle family are art dealers. There might be another one as well but my brain refuses to concentrate long enough to read the rest of the ED right now!

One question....would the family be master painters as well or employ master painters?  It seems like it is a pretty simple charm on the paintings to make it move.

They would be a mixture of family master painters and employed painters!

As for the question about Charms... While I imagine the charm to make the paintings move might be simple since it's simply using Transfiguration to give an inanimate object movement.

I imagine the Charms used on paintings of specific people such as the Hogwarts Headmasters, which are meant to act and behave like a specific person must be extraordinarily complex and probably require a mixture of Potions and Charms to work. Though maybe I've just been reading too much fanfic haha
