Herbology apprenticeship?

Could someone who enjoys Herbology continue their education at an institute of higher education, or would they work with someone already involved in Herbology?  It is not revealed in the books, but maybe the admins here made a decision. 

This is mostly speculation, but I think that someone pursuing some kind of career in herbology would either work in/with the ministry, or under someone involved in Herbology. Of course you could always make up some kind of small institute for your character to study in... really, it just needs to sound plausible. I think the former would be more likely.

Out of curiosity, what is he hoping to eventually do career-wise?  I think it kind of depends on that.  Does he want to be a shopkeeper, own a greenhouse, simply study plants (like botany), go into something medicinal, or maybe even harvest for apothecaries?

She simply wants to study plants, not actually sell them. 

I think a research career could be independent or within the ministry.
