Though she be but little, she is fierce ~ [Elaine]

“I’m pretty sure they have magical stuff for this,” Eva commented, a little sceptical. She didn’t wince at the cold stuff touched her back, but it did feel wet and a little odd. Henna, Elaine had called it. Trying not to move too much, Eva raised her glass to her lips and took a slow sip of wine. She hugged a pillow against her bare chest with her other arm, already a little impatient to see what her friend was drawing back there. With nothing else to look at, Eva’s blue eyes scanned her friend’s flat.

Scented candles gave the place an aroma that fell somewhere in between smoky and flowery. It reminded her of Asia. The plates they’d used for dinner were on the floor beside them and Eva made a mental note to wash those up when she could. The girl was lost in her own thoughts for a moment before consciously bringing herself back to the present. She’d been distracted all night and Elaine – bless her – hadn’t brought it up yet. The Bulgarian girl was sure that her little brunette friend would be asking about it soon. Elaine was refreshingly upfront about that sort of thing.

Eva had been planning on bringing Torr up sooner or later. She’d seen him three times now, even if none of those times had been intentional. It was something she knew Elaine would want to know about, even if the knowledge wouldn’t really have any effect. She felt like she knew exactly what Elaine would have to say about it, but it didn’t matter. Somehow, over all of the chaotic mess of her life, Elaine came first. “I ran into an old friend the other day,” she began casually. There. Not a bad start, right?

"Oh, I'm sure they have but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do it the old muggle way." Elaine was incredibly grateful for being a witch but at the same time she was also proud of her muggle heritage and while magic was really great and helpful, she usually tried not to rely on it all the time. Painting was one of the things she did without magic, no matter if she was painting something on a canvas or on her best friend's body. "Don't move, okay?," the brunette scolded her friend softly before she continued her work. Eva had quite a few clothes that exposed her back and with that henna tattoo people would stare even more than usual.

The rainbow-haired girl definitely wasn't the flowery type which was why Elaine had decided not to draw a typical henna pattern, instead she'd had opted for something a little different. She was already done with the dreamcatchers, all she had to do now was finishing the feathers and then it would look perfect.

The small witch had noticed that something was off as soon as Eva had entered the flat but so far she hadn't asked. Instead she had made dinner, opened a bottle of wine and lit some scented candles. It was a nice atmosphere and hopefully one that would help her friend relax a little. Most likely she'd tell her what exactly was going on and if she didn't... Well, then she could still ask her. Having expected exactly that, Elaine wasn't surprised when her best friend started talking eventually. An old friend? She raised her eyebrows slightly, aware of the fact that Eva couldn't see it.

The former Ravenclaw wondered briefly if she'd met someone from her past but then she'd dismissed the thought again. Eva wouldn't be that calm if that was the case. "That's always nice, isn't it? Who was it? Do I know that friend?" With a few quick strokes of her brush she finished the first feather.

She hadn’t really wanted to move too much until Elaine told her not to. Then her attention was drawn permanently to how ticklish it felt on her skin, and how cold it was and how itchy her right ear had suddenly become. Go figure. “Yeah, yeah,” she said dismissively, adding feeling like a cigarette on to that list. She might joke around, but moments like this were amongst the nicest times she had with Elaine. When it was just the two of them, feeling close and familiar. It reminded her of Asia, which basically felt like home.

As soon as she’d spoken, she knew Elaine would be curious. She’d basically phrased it in a way that teased the silent space between them, hinting that the answer might be unconventional. “Yeah, nice…” she answered vaguely, half unsure and half amused at Elaine calling a run in with Torr nice, even accidentally. She smirked for a moment before letting the expression fade from her face. The problem with this situation was that she felt, rather than consciously thought, that she knew what Elaine would say. Wasn’t Elaine the angel on her shoulder telling her to get out of there every time she saw him?

“You know the friend.” She answered decisively, though Elaine and Torrence had never actually met. Her blue eyes had come to rest on the wine glass beside her. “We need some more wine,” she added. Eva tried to blow a strand of hair out of her face without moving too much. Oh well. Might as well get it out. “You know the friend. If by “friends”, we’re talking psycho exes…”
