Prosper was in Paris again, but it wasn’t nearly as exciting as last time. His brother had asked if he’d wanted to get out of the house for a bit and he’d said yes, but a day trip to wizarding Paris wasn’t really the same as a weekend away with one of his best friends. The boy sighed, huffing a breath and blowing a little hair out of his face as he did so. His curls were getting a bit long – almost long enough to get in his eyes – and it was time for a haircut. Maybe that could be one of the boy’s activities today, while his recently-graduated brother had his interview to intern in one of the most boring departments in the ministry.
Prosper couldn’t remember which department it was, but it wasn’t anything remotely interesting, like The Department of international relations or The Department of mysteries, whatever that was. No. The boy fiddled with his belt buckle absentmindedly, leaning back in his chair in the sun. Adrien was like their father (boring!). So it was more likely to be something like the Department of documenting the drying of paint or something equally useful and interesting.
The curly-haired boy finished off his ice-cream and bounced to his feet to toss his napkin in a nearby bin. He was nearly an adult, legally, but right now he felt like a bored nine-year-old. Tucking his chair under the little wooden table he’d been sitting at, Prosper scouted the street for a recognisable face. It was the middle of summer, for Merlin’s sake. Surely this little strip of shops in a non-muggle area of the city would be crawling with students this time of year? He vaguely recognised a couple of people… A third year Pap boy over by the bookshop with his parents… One of Adrien’s friends heading to the bank with a girl… but no one remotely interesting. Maybe he should just use the change in his pocket to buy a floo trip home? But Adrien would be expecting to meet him somewhere around here… He was torn. A distraction in the form of a pretty (and familiar!) girl appeared in his line of vision, and Prosper’s mind was made up for him.
“Nina!” he called, declaring himself as he made his way over to her. Instead of stopping in front of her, the boy hopped over to fall into step beside her, in whatever direction she was going. He chanced wrapping an arm over her shoulders and giving the girl a quick, friendly squeeze. “How is your summer going?” he asked with an enthusiastic grin. He really was bored out of his mind, and if she wasn’t crazy busy right now, he’d definitely be hanging out with her. He really should have asked Zara to come with him – since she lived in the same town as him, after all – but he hadn’t. Besides, Nina was here now. Maybe she could keep him entertained.
