A man stood in the entrance way of a familiar place. A place of hiring he once been accustomed to. What had it been a few months since he left? He had grown fond of this place and enjoyed the work there. Now on the other hand he could only feel dread. His heart was broken and he was left to pick-up the pieces. Standing in his once sot after career became a burden of a past he didn’t want to face. He had returned to this place for an item he had forgotten. Normally they would have just sent it by mail, but Dante wanted to pick it up himself. He wanted to set aside his past and live his life anew, his new life back in Naples.

Dante stood in the entry way staring at the people going to the front counter asking for where their family was or what ward they need to go to for treatment. Dante gave half a smile as he saw a man with some lashes on his arm that seemed to emit a faint green glow. Probably a type of poison Dante could have cured with a few potion ingredients, but he wasn’t here to work. No he had his mission and he was set to get this visit over with as soon as possible. He really didn’t want to have to run into her. Not now, not when the wound was still somewhat raw.

Taking a deep breath he headed off to the head healer’s office to pick up his forgotten item. On his way he saw a few friendly faces of his colleges he grew to love. He would write back to them so it wasn’t like he lost them forever, but it seemed they weren’t thrilled when he told them he was moving back then. He sometimes regrets his decision to move, but it was for the best for both of them. Right? He eventually passed his old office and it seemed they were quick to find his replacement. Not that he cared too much this place needed more hands so he was thankful he wasn’t being a burden to St. Mungos.

After retrieving his item, a pocket-watch his grandfather had given him when he graduated, he began to head back to the entry-way of St. Mungos. He kept on looking over his shoulder just thinking of the past he was leaving. Of the days he spent working to the bone to provide for her. Of the days they would meet in his office for a nice chat. Of the days they went out and celebrated together. The day he proposed to her. Those were the days he would have called his happiest, but those days were long gone. It had been a few months since they had called off the wedding due to unforeseen circumstances, he still believed she would come back to him, yet in his heart he was aching. He knew it was truly over, but he wished it would have never ended. He cut off his ties to her so he knew nothing about how she was doing or what she was doing. It was for the better right? Dante really didn’t know if he was right to do so, but then again when had he ever been truly right about these things?

Dante made it back to the entry-way and looked towards the receptionist counter one last time. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Pictures of the two of them danced in his head like a slide-show; Picture after picture, happy memory after happy memory. They began to fade as his mind began to shelf them in a folder to store away forever. A soft gentle tear fell down his left eye as the last memory of the two of them began to fade. He then whispered to himself his final goodbye, “I still love you.” He opened his eyes and turned around and headed back into the streets. He was bit too riled up with emotions right now. That place was too much of a reminder to him of that past. He needed to calm himself down so he decided to go to a local pub for a drink.

Once inside he asked for a slandered fire whiskey. It wasn’t much, but the warmth of the drink should heat his cold shattered heart. He needed to get back into better spirits. He had found employment again as a healer. Though it wasn’t the same amount as it was in St. Mungos it was enough to get by so he was grateful to that. His parents seemed to be relatively glad he was back though his mother was slightly disappointed as to why he was back. His father on the other hand hadn’t changed over the years. He still wanted Dante to pursue a career in quidditch and no matter what Dante said he just wouldn’t listen. Dante had given up on trying to convince his father about it and would just mindlessly agree with whatever his father said.

Did his life really boil down to this? Once a healer for one of the most famous wizarding hospitals in all of Europe to a small time healer drinking his sorrows away! His life certainly had changed over the events that have happened, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t pick it back up. No he certainly had the ability to. Now he just needed the support to do it. After a few drinks Dante started to get a bit tipsy. He was never that much of a drinker so this was a new sensation for him. Did people really get drunk on a daily basis? Dante began to see why. Things started to become a bit chipper now. A smile began to erupt on Dante’s face as he downed another round of his drink.
