[solved] EFB/Connections Help

Hi guys,

I don't know why I'm struggling with this so much (apart from it being my first time needing an EFB), but I'm really not sure how to go about figuring out how to connect Maddie's paternal line to another pureblooded family (who is involved with Magical Horse Breeding/Training). Julet has already kindly given me a few famiy lines I could connect with, but would I just be using their EFB for Maddie's paternal line or would I just add them as a family connection to the one I make up? (Or would it depend on how connected the families are?) I've managed to just thoroughly confuse myself at this point, so I guess I just need some direct/clear answers. Hopefully I've explained myself well enough here. :/

I should also mention that I do already sort of have a particular backstory for Maddie's family (on both sides) figured out, so maybe I'm just being too picky/particular?? I had hoped that her family's paternal line has owned a stable in Viennimont, France for a few generations. And that Maddie's mother was an only child, whose mother (Maddie's grandmother) had died in a riding accident when she was younger. Could I have a connection before the family line started up in Viennimont?


I'm sure I'll have more questions later about EFBs too. *sigh* I don't like when things are this difficult for me to grasp...

Samm has just given me a wonderful idea. Would it make sense at all for Abby's grandfather to have been the first in his family to start up a stable/be involved with breeding/training magical horses? Then Maddie's maternal line could be connected to any pureblooded family located in France that was in various lines of work?

History: The Boucher line is ostensibly pureblood, though they hold no great store in bloodstatus, despite having only married into other wizarding families until comparatively recently. Although this particular family is pureblooded, an increased knowledge of the dangers of inherited illnesses coupled with a more liberal attitude towards the younger generation choosing their own spouses means it seems likely that within a few generations all members of the Boucher line will be classed as halfblood.
For the last three generations, members of the family have centred their careers around the Piegnarbeau Equine Studies Centre in Viennimont, which specialises not only in the veterinary care of both ordinary and magical breeds of horses, but also their breeding and training. The current head of the centre is Maurice Boucher; grandfather of Fabien and Estelle.

I think it depends on what you're looking for.  If you have a particular back story thought up for them and it doesn't fit with any of the established families, you can write your own and just connect them.

For example, for Ira, I felt pretty particular about her paternal line and their history going back several years, so I wrote an EFB for the Ilyins.  But I was less particular about her maternal line, and Dylan was kind enough to let me insert her mother into one of his established families and connect that way.

In response to your second post, I think that could make sense! :]  Depending on their wealth/status, you might want to consider what lines of work the paternal line was involved in before her grandfather started the business, and if the business is responsible for their current status, or how it might have influenced it.

I might end up doing that then, cause I do have a solid backstory already thought up, and there isn't really any other families, from what I can see, that are doing it in the area that I want my family line to be in (ie. Viennemont). ^^

Maddie's paternal side is made up of muggles and muggleborns so I only need an EFB for her maternal side. (I am connecting her with other!Becca's Avia though. Her and Maddie are cousins. :])
