It had been many months since Mateusz had gotten a day off, but on a fairly cool November morning he found himself with a day to himself. If only it was truly a day to himself. Ever since he'd learned that he had a daughter, he found the little girl spending more and more time with him. He enjoyed it for the most part, so long as her mother wasn't around, but Mat wasn't father material. He wasn't supposed to settle down and have little children running around him, demanding his attention. Yet, he somehow found himself in such a predicament, and was almost enjoying it.
That day, Mat had planned to relax around his home and do absolutely nothing. If anything, perhaps he was going to get more sleep in. However, that quickly ended when Eirian, the mother of his child, dropped off the four-year-old ball of energy at his house and took off. It wasn't as if Mat had anything special planned that day, however he wasn't in the mood to get into an argument with Eirian, so he happily waved her off and shut the door in her face. Immediately, Seren began to tell him about her day and about a game she'd played with her cousins back home. Mat tried to focus on the story, however he just couldn't get into the social lives of four-year-olds, so he mhm'd and aha'd the whole time until he felt a tug on his hair and a whiny "Daddy."
"Yes?" He asked, as he stifled a yawn and closed his eyes. "I want to play, Daddy," Seren replied. When Mat gave no answer, Seren tugged on his hair once more and commanded, "Now, Daddy." Mat brushed her hand away and slowly stood up, stretching once he got to his feet. "I'll take you to the park. Go get your jacket, okay?" Mat reached for his own jacket, and once he and Seren were squared away, they left his house and proceeded to walk to a small park in Kielce near the wizarding part of the town.
Mat tried the best he could to play with the younger girl, but he honestly didn't know how little kids functioned. To him, all they wanted to do was run around and get dirty, and neither was something Mat was invested in. Instead, after several minutes of "playing" with his daughter, he sat down on a bench and watched as she started to play with some of the other children. If he could manage to take a nap without anyone noticing, this would surely prove to be a better day.
