It was a picturesque May day- the kind where the clouds loll through the sky, where the birds are singing and the tiny 'peep's of their young were clearly heard over the comfortable breeze rustling the branches. The tiny buds of leaves had already bloomed but weren't fully grown yet, lending the trees to still have their color of light green newness. The sun warmed the British earth and its occupants, and the weather was balmy and perfect for short sleeves but not warm enough to warrant sweat. Everything seemed beautiful and, again, perfect.
Except for the fact that Charlotte Glyn was starving.
The rumble of her stomach caused her countenance to twist into a stormy and pained one, her hands on said abdomen to try and sooth it somehow. "This bloody stinks," the fifth year moaned, stumbling into the courtyard where students usually congregated to take a trip to Hogsmeade. Today was Saturday, and she had a hankering for ice cream, a butter beer, possibly a sandwich...Anything, really, to satiate her growing hunger. Charlotte scanned the courtyard for someone, anyone, who could walk with her to the town and get something to eat. Green eyes lit up as they landed on a girl with shoulder-length honey-colored hair. "Si!" The Gryffindor didn't bother to hide her call, warranting a few confused glances as the blonde hurried to catch up with her friend.
Putting her hand on Sian's shoulder, Charlotte sighed deeply as her stomach grumbled, loudly this time. "I'm fucking starving." The whine in her voice wasn't covered up, and Charlotte knew that at any moment, if frustration came over here, all hell would break loose. Suddenly, the girl's eyes lit up, and she dug through the unassuming dark brown bag she had thrown over her shoulder, with money placed inside, upon leaving her dorm room. "Aha!" Sian was lucky that day- Charlotte had wrapped up a piece of candy from Honeyduke's in case of hunger and had forgotten about from earlier in the week. Nibbling on the sweet, she physically felt her hunger subside for the time being and breathed out in relief. The crisis averted, Charlotte finished off the candy and stretched her arms out, yawning as she did so.
The sun warmed the blonde's skin, and she felt instantly better. Glancing at her friend now walking beside her, she grinned unabashedly and asked, "So how's your Saturday been?" Despite being housemates and in the same year, Charlotte hadn't seen Sian that day yet because she'd been up early to walk around the castle, having felt a strange restlessness that morning. The wind moved the edge of her above-the-knee sleeveless sky blue dress, the day having warranted a breezy outfit. Charlotte hummed to herself out of habit "Suo Gan", an old Welsh lullaby that she knew by heart. Despite never really acting upon it, Charlotte was able to sing well, and she felt weirdly relaxed after the adrenaline rush of being hungry. "Where do you want to go once we get to Hogsmeade?" The blonde inquired, an eyebrow arching mischievously at Si.
