Tess came to Freya's house in Cornwall fully prepared, clinging tightly to the sack of homemade beauty potions she'd cooked up herself at work, and at Gillian's tiny flat. She was learning how to put her own spin on the things she created, and had a new hair potion she wanted to try out on Freya! She added dried chamomile and lemons to the mixture this time, and it gave off a sort of golden, zesty sparkle like fireworks when exposed to the air. The lemon juice was supposed to make her hair brighter, and it'd been used for centuries, and if Tess thought it would do something for her own brown head of hair, she might've slapped the citrusy liquid on her own head, but Tess had engineered it with her best friend's golden tresses in mind.
Tess had arrived a few minutes earlier than scheduled, and excited that she had made another successful apparation attempt, she skipped up to the front door, and was shortly thereafter let inside with a squeal and a tight hug from none other than the blonde beauty herself.
Now she sat crosslegged on Freya's floor, scribbling hastily in the journal she'd promised herself to keep on January first. Another exciting day at work, but Tess had something else to write about... In fact, she was excited to tell Freya about the letters she'd sent to Harvey Landsdowne over the past couple of weeks.
It was bold of her, she knew that, but she was tired of sitting around and waiting for him to get in touch with her! Sometimes guys liked it when girls took initiative! After another sizable gulp from the casual drinking glass that Freya had filled to the brim with Prosecco, she closed her journal with a snap and looked up at her friend.
"I've been exchanging letters with Harvey Landsdowne." She blurted sheepishly, with a look on her face of mischief and delight. "Sent him a letter asking how his summer's been, and they've made him Head Boy."
What Freya didn't know was Tess was alluding to a school year of making out in the Prefect's common room. She let a half-buzzed giggle twinkle up from her voice box as she flopped sideways onto the floor in lazy defeat.
"I think I have a crush on him, and I'm definitely invisible to him, but I've invited him out to get ice cream with me on Diagon Alley next week!" She erupted in a fit of nervous giggles. Was this her way of coping with the spilling of her inner-most feelings? Tess usually kept her crushes a secret, and it had ensured proven success for her in the past. She was hoping that by spilling the beans to Freya, the possibility of word getting back to Harvey was more likely, even though she knew that she could trust Freya with any secret. There was no way in hell that she would announce her affection to Harvey herself, but she thought he was enthusiastic enough around her to be ready to know?
Tess groaned and whined and rolled onto her back. "I'm going to embarrass myself!" She wailed, slapping her journal over her face. "What do I do?"
