Hey guys,

The plan was to run the first match of the schedule in October, and that match was meant to be Slytherin vs Ravenclaw. However, due to team shortages, especially in Ravenclaw, that would require additional npcs on the teams. As we'd really like to get the first trial game of the new system right, I'd like to know your input on whether another option might be preferable.

Option one - We put up an sign-up sheet for those willing to npc. Those players are distributed across Slytherin and Ravenclaw to fill the existing player gaps and we run Slytherin vs Ravenclaw as expected.

Option two - For the October game, we deviate from the plan and instead run a game based on the co-operative houses: Slytherin and Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. This would probably give us enough players overall, but as Gryff and Slyth are the two with the fuller teams, it would mean some players on those teams sitting the game out.

Option three - We run a scrimmage game completely outside of the house system. People sign up for the game from any house and are randomly distributed across two teams which are given non-house names.

Please vote, comment and if you have alternative suggestions, please leave them here. It might be too late to consider them for October, but they can be considered for future months!

Thanks guys,

Slytherin & Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw makes sense as they're sharing common rooms!

I voted for mix it up but I also really like the idea of the combined house games. Could also be a ploy to help inter-house relations to have the two sets of rival play together.

Oooooh this is tough!! My only concern with not playing Slytherin vs. Ravenclaw as expected is that it kinda goofs up the rest of the season schedule so it'll be tougher to determine the ultimate Quidditch Cup winner.

What ifffff we do Slytherdor vs. Huffleclaw, but the Slytherins and Ravenclaws get priority for the starting spots (since it's supposed to be their match) with the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs filling in on the respective teams, anddddddd then the win for the match would be awarded to either Slytherin or Ravenclaw depending on the outcome (again, since it's supposed to be their match). If this was the idea all along please kick me.
And in the event that Hufflepuff needs players for the match against Gryffindor in November, we could do the inverse (with Slytherin filling in gaps on the Gryffindor team which Keela insists won't be necessary >> and Ravenclaw filling in gaps on the Hufflepuff roster).
I do think that fits well with the IC events but I'd also be down for mixing it up! Or the NPCs haha.

Sooo my official vote is Slytherdor vs. Huffleclaw!

Ooh, I like this idea. So matches go on as normal, but houses sharing common rooms fill in for each others teams :)

I really like the idea of doing the two combined teams. Because it would give us more of a plot and make the two houses from each rivalry get along. If only for a moment.

Or, potentially, it could lead to even more house hatred.... for example if a Gryffindor was playing for Slytherin and they lost the match, and the Slytherins blamed the Gryffindor's for it....

I was initially gonna go with NPCs, but the combined teams work so much better (especially from a plot standpoint). Go with that!

EDIT: Open sign ups would be really good too.

Combined house game, just because of the massive amount of Gryffindor/Slytherin hostility which would overflow, both off and on the pitch.

I was going to suggest that the winning team splits the points, so if Slytherdor won, then both Slytherin and Gryffindor get the points.

Although having the points go to Slytherin might encourage sabotage/resentment on the team, which might actually be hilarious to play out from a plot point of view. It'd end up throwing the results though.

I think the trick is that whatever we do, we similarly for the next game, to make sure the points stay fair. IE. if the points go to both winning houses this time, we do the same next month. Or if slytherin/ravenclaw take the points this time, then next time the points would go to hufflepuff/gryffindor.
