[prosper's] human condition

Adrien had started to miss his brothers.

Now that he and Leon were the only one at Beauxbatons, he rarely saw Prosper or Pierce. The pair of them lived on their own, both in their own apartments and their own beds at night, while Adrien still resided between castle walls or in their parents home. Adrien got to see Prosper and Pierce, of course, but it was on their own terms, whenever they had the chance.

This summer, Adrien had decided to take matters into his own hands and make time to see his brother. His second oldest brother, that is - Adrien hadn't heard from Pierce in a while, nor had his parents. Perhaps he was on some sort of retreat for one of his jobs, or the whole elemental thing. The Lachapelle thought it was neat that Pierce had some sort of gift that no one else Adrien knew had, but it was tough when Pierce had to dedicate his time to training and honing his abilities. What Adrien had really wanted was to get all of his brothers together for a family dinner, but alas, none of them were in the same place at the same time.

Adrien was settling for a one-on-one with each of them. First up: Prosper.

Prosper had been given warning that Adrien was going to visit. A prompt letter from Adrien told Prosper the date and time that he'd be arriving at his older brother's apartment, which he shared with the most beautiful Zara Rousseau. However, this didn't stop Prosper from being absent when Adrien showed up at his older brother's front door. The seventeen year old wasn't surprised, though. He'd gotten started with cooking his brother dinner anyways.

Adrien had intended to cook tacos for he and Prosper, with a few techniques he learned while he was at school speaking to some of the house elves. He'd had beautiful blue corn tortillas, a nice cut of hangar steak, and a few vegetables and sauces he'd be able to prepare to make the perfect meal. This all changed, however, when Adrien had added too much oil to the pan. The tortillas became rigid and almost like chips, which almost sent the Papillonlisse into a frenzy. How in Merlin's hairy beard had he screwed this up?!

It had taken a couple minutes of staring at the messed up tortillas to come up with a great compromise: tostadas. Tacos, but with a harder shell. Or, that's what they'd be tonight, in this case. Adrien had just hoped it would be to Prosper's liking.

Prosper had really forgotten that Adrien was going to his house. He’d been partying and sleeping around for a month now and hadn’t gone home to Paris once. Tonight really wasn’t an exception; this afternoon he’d been day drinking with some dancer girls in Berlin and tonight they were supposed to go out, but he’d remembered last minute that he should have been at home. Prosper had struggled a little; he was already pretty drunk, really, and was a drunk brother better than no brother? The Frenchman really hadn’t wanted to leave - he couldn’t speak a word of German, but somehow he’d been “conversing” with two very gorgeous brunettes in broken English and things had been working out just fine with limited speaking.

Still, he supposed he’d been a pretty bad brother lately. So rather than go out with the girls, Prosper had managed to organise a quick portkey and make his way back home to Paris. He’d found his way home. The young wizard slid open his door with some trepidation, knowing he’d be late (not to mention drunk).

“Adrien?” He called out, trying to put on his best sober face. Prosper had never been very good at the whole pretending-to-be-sober thing. “Zara?” He asked into the house, realising that his best friend must either be home or at Diederik’s. Silently, he hoped for the latter - Zara was undoubtedly mad at him for ditching her without a word. That wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have drunk. Or ever.

Prosper smelled the food before he saw his brother. “Wow that smells amazing little bro,” he said, stepping into the kitchen area to give his little brother a big, affectionate hug. It was a little clumsy and he smelt like wine but oh well. “Sorry I’m late.” The young man eyed the food hungrily.
