Maddox Stanton prided himself on being able to handle almost any situation that crossed his path. He was a Stanton and a green blooded Slytherin, thank you very much – never mind how he really felt about the former. But there were as always, exceptions to every rule, as he was reminded rather abruptly when he rounded a corner in the winding corridors of the Ministry and nearly ran into his younger brother, Seth. He’d gotten so used to not seeing his youngest sibling that it was almost like the boy, now a man really, had ceased to exist all together.

It was almost like seeing a ghost he thought to himself as he cleared his throat, his cheeks lightly tinged red with surprise and a hint of awkwardness. “Er...sorry, Seth.” He said shrugging entirely unsure of whether he should stay or just walk away. He and Seth hadn’t exactly been friendly since they were children, after the incident with the vase. Maddox had tried a number of times to make things right, but had never managed to set things right with him, and was at a loss for what to do, other than accept that he and his brother were not going to get along probably for the rest of their lives.

He spied a tan envelope in his brother’s hand and somehow his brain took this as a sign to blurt out the first thing that came to mind “Busy day?” Merlin’s saggy balls, he was a moron, an absolute dolt. He might have figured out how to dress the part of royal Ministry brat, but when it came to anyone but his parents in the family, he didn’t seem to have the ability to pull it off.

His mouth seemed to be running by its own accord as it continued spewing word vomit uselessly into the space between them “Have you seen mum lately? She’s been hassling me to come by for tea.” That was it, he was going to have to leave, there didn’t seem to be another way to solve this conundrum, and he did have an image to keep, whether he liked it or not.
