The brunette’s head scarf caught air as she followed her brother, Ajur into the Brazilian Ministry door. She let it fall to her shoulder, giving an appearance of a normal scarf and pulled off her headdress. As always, her parents would not have let her leave the hotel without traditional Turkish attire. Thankfully she did not get gawked at on the street. With the World Quidditch cup days away every walk of Wizard was about and proudly displaying their native attires. Still, she preferred a slightly more modern wizard look and was glad her brother did not enforce her parents views.
She hurried to stay on her brothers heels as he quickly walked around the three check in desks which had lines almost out the door. She heard a german woman complain to another that the normal check in system was down and they had to do everything manually. Beyond the information booths was the rest of a lobby made up of a cafe on one side, rows of waiting chairs on the other and in the center were roped off elevators guarded by a very large looking native Brazilian. There was a line here too but thankfully it was not as long. They stepped behind a Middle aged red headed woman and her son. Ajur dug in his bag for his ‘Visitor Turkish Official’ pin while reinsuring his sister that it should not take more than an hour to get his ministry paperwork stamped, signed and submitted and then he could take Esmeray shopping for her Castelobruxo School of Magic supplies.
Although Esmeray let out a sigh, she was not going to complain. She was happy to be away from her overbearing parents and she had not spent time with her brother in ages. Still, she wished they were doing something more fun. As she glanced back at the swarming lobby, noticing the European style architecture although a little too monotone or her taste.
“Oh, Milda. I did not see you there! They are having your ministry’s department file visiting forms too?” Esmeray turned to see her brother greeting the woman in front of him in Russian. Although the turkish girl did speak Russian and German fluently she did not quite hear what the middle-aged woman responded but noticed that she smiled with recognition at her brother. The koldovstoretz glanced passed her brothers acquaintance to the young wizard. Something about the pale skin and freckled face awoken a memory although faint within Esmeray. One from her days walking the Durmstrang corridors. She was trying to remember if he was one of them that pulled pranks on the Koldovstorez students. She did not think so. She vaguely remember him sulkily against the walls.
She was trying to remember if they ever exchanged words, when her brother introduced her using the western style of her name, “This is my sister, Esmeray Aysoy. Esmeray, this is Mrs. Milda Astrauskienė. She works for the Russian Ministry as an Auror.”
“It is nice to meet you…” she started to state while presenting her hand to Mrs.Astrauskienė. Before turning to nodding to Mrs.Astrauskienė's son. “I think I remember meeting your son at Durmstrang.” She tried to add a friendly smile. ‘A good politician will know that today’s enemies will be tomorrow's friends.. and knows to always rebuilds relation after a conflict.’ At least that is what her grandfather taught her when after she watched him shake hands with a not so friendly ambassador. It was not that she hated all Durmstrang students, just particular ones. Ones that were completely vindictive and beyond reason. But as she searched his Greenish-blue eyes for any fear or anger, she was sure, well atleast almost 100% positive he was not one of them. Still her body tensed with the memories.
Her thoughts were drowned out by the guards booming voice chastising a Wizard in front of them in Portuguese. The wizard left the line and walked back to the information booths. She caught a worried look cross her brothers face as he checked his watch and spared a wishful glance at the front desk lines as if hoping they were suddenly vacant.
He turned to her and said in Turkish. “Esmeray, do you mind waiting at the café? I don’t have time to grab you a visitor pin and they seemed that have tightened up security here.”
Thrilled to be free without supervision, the nearly adult witch beamed while checked her pockets that she remembered the local coins her father gave her. “Of course!”
“Does your son plan to wait in the lobby too? If so, can I ask him to watch over my sister?” Her brother said switching back to Russian. Esmeray eyes flashed to her brother but her practiced family had taught her to keep a ‘political mask on’ which help disguised the frustration over the fact even her brother thought she required a babysitter. Still, her brother must have felt it, for he turned and said just loud enough for the others to hear, although have Esmeray with the slightest of winks. “Our family would love to hear that you had a chance to meet up with a young man from Durmstrang.”
“It is our Grandmother’s alma mater.” said Ajur as if that explained everything to the Astrauskienė, but Esmeray knew better. She knew news of a Durmstrang boy would likely help get her parents off her back and hopefully put off the talk of an arranged marriage. He was giving Esmeray an opportunity, one she could not pass up.
Shoot, I am going to have to be charming. She thought before announced. “It would be great if you could join me.”
