[Edinburgh] On the roof (Danny)

They had had to postpone their meeting for several reasons over the past weeks but finally they had found a time that suited them both. Deirdre admittedly didn’t feel too comfortable, inviting Danny Willbond into her flat, but she wanted him as a regular customer and there was no other option - aside from, maybe, meeting him on the roof of the building she lived in. As the thought occurred to Deirdre, she smiled to herself. Her two-room flat was mostly tidy and there wasn’t really anything secret in it. Yet, Deirdre liked her privacy. On the top of the building, however, she had set up a little garden with some plants she regularly needed for potions. She had a bench and two chairs up there and as it was for once a pretty sunny day, she could very well let Danny try things there, hoping he wouldn’t get so high that he thought he could fly without a broom and fall off the roof.

When her doorbell rang, Deirdre took a bag full of vials, opened the door and stepped out of her flat to guide Danny upstairs. “Hey Danny,” she said, not really taking the time for small talk as she led the way to her roof terrasse (that wasn’t actually a real terrasse anyway). The view was quite pretty, though, in the far distance there was the Edinburgh castle and a little closer there was Arthur’s Seat.
Deirdre was wearing a dark blue dress with some embroidery on its neckline and flat rather heavy looking boots that did not seem to fit too well with the dress. She walked past a cannabis plant and gestured at the bench. “You can take a seat there,” she told him and placed her bag on the table in front of him.

“Glad you could make it,” she offered in an attempt to be polite. “I’ve put together a selection of various party potions.” She pulled out a test tube rack and put some tiny sealed vials on it. “This raspberry coloured one is the potion we already talked about, the one that makes you want to make out with people,” she said. Then, after a brief moment, she added “You could take this sample home to try it.” After all, despite the fact that Danny was quite a handsome guy, she did not want to have him kissing her now. That was hardly the point of their meeting. "The lime green one is helping you to get rid of all inhibitions, the sky blue one gets you high very fast and the orange one makes you dance like a pro while the purple one is perfect for karaoke bars. It gives you a great singing voice." Well, maybe not a great singing voice per se. It was more making the voice sound loud and clear and... sometimes a little funny.

"I have some more, of course, but I figured you might enjoy these."

It had been a few weeks since he had run into Deirdre and they had struck up their little deal. So much time had passed that he had forgotten about it entirely so reading the invite to her flat was met with surprise and a few innuendos before he remembered. Oh yeah, the party potions. He flipped @Jeremy Edwards the bird as his friend made his own innuendo before Danny apparated away to Edinburgh to the small close between two brownstone buildings on her street.

"Deirdre!" Danny exclaimed, throwing his arms open wide as soon as she opened the door with a big smile to match. "Not gonna lie, I half thought you were going to give me a wrong address. Glad you didn't though," he joked as he came in and followed her up to her roof, trying not to stare at her bum the entire time. After living in a place with roof access himself, he wasn't sure he could even go back. The fire escape at his and Jeremy's place just didn't seem to cut it anymore. He whistled as they arrived and he took in the view, his brows raised as he swung back to look at her. "Now, this is what I'm talking about," he said with a nod. "Great spot you got here."

He strolled over to the bench she pointed out after giving her a smart salute. This was her show after all, he was just here to help, but he stopped short as he saw a familiar looking plant. "A budding herbologist in addition to a potioneer?" he asked slyly as he noticed the cannabis. He had never been great at Herbology himself, but considering his best friend grew the stuff in their apartment, he couldn't help but know a little bit.

"I am very happy to help," he said, waggling his brows for good measure. When Deirdre had first mentioned her new party potions, he was happy to sign up. It seemed like fun and considering his day job was anything but fun, he was feeling more reckless than usual lately. A little (hopefully) harmless experiment with Deirdre seemed like just the distraction he needed. He watched as she pulled out some vials, reaching out to look more closely at each one. He laughed as she talked about the raspberry one aka the Snogger. "Are you sure you don't want to test that one out now?" he asked with a teasing smile. He as clearly game for it. Besides it wasn't like he was going to take it at home and risk kissing Jere again. Although.. if @Freya Trickett was there...

His thoughts got away from him in the moment that he missed the list of other potions other than the karaoke one. "They all sound great," he still said and then glanced at her. "Which one did you want me to try first?"

With a slight hint of a smile Deirdre had greeted Danny. He was a handsome guy with an astonishingly bright smile that felt infectious even to someone like Deirdre who was very economical with her smiles. It was funny how she had never paid him much attention while still at school.

“I’d be a bad businesswoman if I gave a customer the wrong address,” Deirdre said, but could totally see why he might have thought so. However, this meeting wasn’t all about business for her. Deirdre had always liked the company of Gryffindor boys - they were just so predictable and fun to mess with.

“Thank you,” Deirdre said as he complimented her to her little refuge on the roof. It wasn’t spacious but it was big enough to grow some things and to chill. Carefully Deirdre watched as Danny looked around, hoping that he wouldn’t touch anything that wasn’t meant for him.

His question didn’t come as a surprise and Deirdre gave a little shrug. “Well, sometimes it’s easier to grow plants yourself than to purchase them,” she admitted. “People tend to ask stupid questions, after all.”

He was teasing her but Deirdre’s expression remained entirely neutral as she looked into his eyes. “We can try it out,” she said thoughtfully after a moment of consideration. “I wouldn’t mind. But don’t you have a girlfriend who might get jealous, though?” she teased. Truth be told, Deirdre was seeing someone herself but she wasn’t quite sure how serious that really was. She did not think that her relationship status had yet changed from 'single' to 'in a relationship'. Anyway, Danny’s full lips did look pretty inviting. She tried to talk herself into believing that she would only kiss him because she could thus mess with him and not because she considered him attractive, though. After all, that would be weak of her and Deirdre wasn't weak, she was always in control or thought so at least.
