[Announcement] Changes to model list

Hi folks,

Following the discussion we had in the Q&A boards some time ago, we have decided to make some changes to the model claims system.

Model claims for sorted characters now run for one full calendar year from the date of the claim, rather than three months previously. After this time, if the character hasn't been logged in the model is stealable; but please note that after the initial purge we won't necessarily update the model list to reflect which faces are now available.

The exception to this rule is if a character was created but never posted following sorting; in which case the model will be stealable after six months.

However, we have decided not to allow claims for unsorted characters, and the current trust system, imperfect though it may be, will remain. While we understand that it's hard sometimes to have your heart set on a certain face only to have someone else use it, it also doesn't seem fair to claim a model and then take months to create the sheet.

As it is now January we are going to check through the model list in the next few days and purge as necessary. So if you have a char who hasn't been logged for ages and you want to be certain of keeping their model, now's the time to log them in!

For clarification -- after this initial purge, does the year-long claim last from the time of the claim itself, or from the last login?  Does simply logging into a character renew the claim for an entire year?  Regardless of the activity of the driver or character in question?  Or does the claim actually expire after a year from the date claimed?

Just want to make sure I understand correctly.

Okay. All currently active chars are being updated so the model is claimed for a year from today (or tomorrow, depending on when we get to the list!) That then gives them a full year, and after that...well, if nothing has been posted for an entire year, we might have to revisit things. Sorry this doesn't yet answer everything but I can't see original posts on my phone, only my reply!

Archived characters are being left with the date of when their model was last claimed. So that'll be a year from...generally about August, I think.

I think my confusion is just on whether the year-long claim is from the last login or from the claim itself (in other words, today/tomorrow).

Like if my claim was from today, it expires January 2015.  But then, say I don't log in again until August.  Does that renew the claim until August 2015?  Or, when the list is updated again next January, would mine be renewed with everybody else's (because I had logged in within the last year), so then I'd have it until January 2016?
