Jane had had an awfully long day at work, and was thankful that it was all over. Honestly, she sometimes wondered why she had even chosen to be an auror. Of course, she was still in training... In all likelihood, her workload would only increase. Someday, she'd be taking on a trainee of her own. However, if she had really thought about it, she would realize that the main reason for her workload was that she was constantly trying to keep her friends out of trouble.
Darren, mostly. Geoff a little bit, too. In fact, the only close friend of hers, lately, who hadn't started any trouble was Eamon... Of course, this was because he was
also an auror-in-training. The latter and she had become even closer, lately. She wasn't sure if it was a good or a bad thing. They hadn't done anything, really. After all, she was still sort-of seeing Darren. But, they had gotten a little flirty... There was no harm in that, right? Right.
Anyway, she was hanging out with Geoff tonight. At least he was one of her friends who she didn't have to worry about making a move on her. Actually, she had been the one to make a move on him. Years ago, granted, but it had still happened. She was embarrassed by it, actually. She had been fifteen, and drunk, and she had kissed him. He still teased her about it from time to time, which prompted a, "F*ck you." from the blonde girl. He had made it abundantly clear, since then, that he viewed her as a little sister. It had been the first time that someone had really "friend-zoned" her and it had been a little disheartening. After all, it was usually her rejecting people...
Ah, well. That had been ages ago. Well, four years. Same difference.
Dropping her finished cigarette on the sidewalk, Jane squashed it out with her
shoe before approaching the front door. Hopefully he hadn't forgotten about her and started shagging some stripper that he worked with. That would be awkward as hell. Knocking on the door, she announced her presence loudly.
"Geoff! It's Jane! Open up, mate!"
