[Solved] When to Purchase a Magical Creature

Hi guys!

So as of yesterday I have started to work on a new Durmstrang student. He is going to come from a family who owns a Dragons reservation and I wanted him to have a mini dragon. The problem of course is that mini dragons are creatures which require an application.

My question is; Is it possible to apply for a magical creature before the character is actually sorted? This is so that I can include him getting his dragon in the history (if approved).  Or can you only apply strictly after sorting?

Sorry for the stupid sounding question, but as I haven't applied for a magical creature before it is not something I've ever had to think about.

hmmmm, since it's an important part of your character's background story, i'd say it's okay to apply for it before the character is sorted. =)

And just a few follow up questions...

1) Would he be allowed to take it to Durmstrang with him or would it have to remain back at home?

2) If he is allowed to take it to Durmstrang will it be confined to the dragon stables? Or is he allowed to bring it indoors and to his dormitory provided proper precautions are taken?

i'd say that he would be allowed to take it with him but that it would be confined to the stables.
that's just my opinion, though. let's see whether another admin agrees or not. ^^

That sounds reasonable to me. I could imagine some staff saying dragon stables, or it stays home.

There have been other students in the past who brought them to Durmstrang, so I don't think it'd be a problem at all.

Oksana, the dragon flying professor, says it's absolutely fine for students to bring their mini dragons to school with them. She personally thinks it should be compulsory for every student should have a dragon and it's fine for the dragons to sleep in students' beds. But she's only just this side of sane so I really wouldn't listen to anything she says...
