Eli was both bored and enthralled by his latest project. It was a new series of serial cartoons for the paper. The art was meticulous and colorful, and something that Eli enjoyed immensely, but the actual comic content was a bust. It wasn’t his own work, and was brought in from the outside, as the paper sometimes was apt to do to spice things up. The fact that they did things like this never really bothered Elijah, he understood business when he saw it. But it also didn’t mean he had to pretend something he didn’t like.
It had taken him most of the day to get through most of the first strip to go into the paper within the next week. But the meticulous process was never what made Eli restless, it was his surroundings. He understood that being in an office was necessary to make a living and do what he got to do, but there were some projects like his current one, that he could work on at home, or in an environment that he found enjoyable. Sometimes he just needed silence, and predictable surroundings.
So when a shadow cast itself over his desk, Eli was quick to let the visitor know his feelings. Without turning around from his idea board “Can I help you?” His tone was short, but not biting. After he had satisfactorily pinned his newest idea to the board, the brunette turned to see who it was who had picked the wrong time to drop by for a visit. Oh. It was Blo. Eli knew he was in for a treat whether he wanted one or not. Flashing her a semi honest smile he tried his best to make nice “Blo, what a nice surprise...what brings you down here today?”
