Broad shoulders flexed in the snug Tupac tshirt as Malachi whipped up a batch of his mama’s famous pancakes. Low rap music played in the background as Malachi wanted to hear something, but didn’t want to interrupt the little gate crashed curled on his couch. He wrinkled his nose and looked out into the living room and at the petite sleeping form. It wasn’t often that he had guest, and it was obvious by the fact that his 8 month old puppy Momo was staring dead into Julia’s face. Her tail was wagging madly, but like the creep she was, her eyes were keenly focused on the younger woman’s face.

Julia and he weren’t close, persay. He’d done a few temp jobs during the slow season as a bouncer, and seen the girl at various clubs and organizations. For some reason, she was always in the middle of something, and it reminded him of his younger sister who was still trying to find her place in the world. It touched him, in the way that sentimental things quietly touched everyone. So if he’d let her use him as a shield every so often, or carelessly swatted  someone away from her, it was because of those feelings. Not that he actually like the smart mouthed little brat. Even as he thought that, his lips quirked up in a half smile.

He was finishing the last bits of pancakes and putting them on the big serving plate next to the sausages when he heard excited yips. Momo didn’t really bark, but she made yipping noises that sounded like she was getting stepped on, but really, she was just desperately excited. It could be the fact that before he’d adopted her from the shelter, some completely messed up person had hurt her, crushing those parts of her throat that would allow her to bark. Malachi had chosen her because even though she’d been bandaged up from head to toe, she’d been the first dog to walk up to him, and beg for his attention. So he’d had to have her. Six months with him, and now she was a happy but weird dog. As shown by the fact that instead of following her new best friend, she was chasing her tail in excitement.

Speaking of her new best friend, Malachi stared at the figure in the doorway. Draped in the blanket he’d laid across her after he’d dragged her drunk self out of the club before someone tried to fight her, Julia looked a hot ass mess. Her hair was everywhere, and her make up was smeared. He’d never seen the girl in less than party ready perfection, and a snort bubbled from his throat before he could help it. “Breakfast is done.” He nodded his head towards the food on the counter top. “You might want to shower and stuff first, though. It’s down the hall and to your left.” His lips twitched with amusement. “…I didn’t know your hair stuck up that high, Jules…”

Pound. Pound. Pound.

Julia hadn't even opened her eyes and she could feel the headache thudding against her temples. The small blonde wasn't even sure she wanted to open her eyes and face the light of day--it was certain to only making the throbbing in her head worse. A small groan escaped her mouth as she realized she wasn't going to be able to fight off being conscience any longer. As she accepted her fate, a scent tickled her nose. Was that...sausage? Julia half opened her blue eyes, only to see a dog staring at her intently, it's face resting on the couch cushion next to hers. Her brows furrowed in confusion as the adorable creature moved her face forward and licked Julia on her nose. A half smile grew on her face, before she had the sudden alarm of realizing she did not know who this dog was or why it was in her house.

Sitting up quickly, causing the throbbing her head to increase for a moment, Julia looked around the room and realized she wasn't in her house. Blinking against the bright day light coming through the windows, Julia sat for a moment, trying to recollect her memories from the previous night. She remembered dancing, drinking...flirting with some tall guy...and then some bitch screaming at her over trying to "steal her man." Reaching to her jaw, she felt a dull ache and recalled this girl swinging punches at her. Had the girl knocked Julia out? The German teen thought for a moment, remembering her own arms reaching for the girl who swung at her. Looking down at her hands, she saw two broken nails and a small bruise on her right knuckles. Well, if this girl had gotten the best of Julia, at least Julia could see she probably got at least one punch in. Still, that didn't explain why she wasn't in her own house.

Getting up, Julia breezed past the brown dog, who was now chasing her own tail, toward the doorway and the smell of breakfast food. Her eyes fell on a familiar figure. Tall and muscular, her eyes adjusted to the man in the kitchen. Malachi? Julia thought to herself, her confusion only growing. How did she end up here? She vaguely remembered getting lifted out of the fight with the girl by someone she couldn't place now. The blonde stared at him, trying to figure out what she was doing in what must be his place. The dog that must be his came to Julia's side, pawing at her leg for attention. Absently, she reached down slightly to pet her fuzzy head, before Malachi spoke. Her mouth opened, attempting some words, before she heard the comment about her hair. "Oh," she breathed softly, before moving down the hall, blanket still wrapped around her to the bathroom.

Looking in the mirror, Julia almost startled herself. Her hair was moving in various directions her eyeliner gave her the appearance of a raccoon. Her lipstick was smudged around her mouth and upon closer inspection, she saw her eyelashes clumped together, stuck with mascara. She considered his offer of a shower briefly, before realizing she had no change of underwear here or conditioner. Looking around the neatly kept bathroom, Julia found a wash cloth, a comb and some mouth wash which she grabbed sloppily, unable to fully function with the pounding in her head and the distraction of dry mouth. She realized desperately she need water and none to classily, she ran the sink and moved her mouth near the faucet and took a few huge gulps. Looking at herself again the mirror, she ran the comb through the knots of curly hair, before securing it in a messy top knot, washed her face and swished the mouth wash. It wasn't as good as brushing her teeth, but it would do for now.

Reentering the kitchen, she saw a plate set for her with a fork and before even letting Malachi speak, Julia picked up a fork and grabbed a sausage. Not even bothering to cut up, Julia ate bites right off the fork, her hungover stomach and body thankful for the greasy food. After finishing her sausage, she grabbed another and as she took a bite, she looked at the man before her. "Uh, thanks," Julia said, swallowing the bite. "For breakfast."

Still uncertain of how she ended up here, Julia raised her eyebrow at the older man. "Do you have anything for a headache? Also, why am I here?"

Momo watched the girl go, and Malachi had to snap his fingers twice for the dog to stay where she was. Even as he began to clean up the kitchen a bit, he could hear the excited thump of the dog’s tail slamming against the hardwood floor. It wasn’t the dog’s fault. Even though Malachi took her on daily walks, and to the dog park, there were rarely people at their home. Hell, he hadn’t brought a girl home since he’d adopted Momo, so the dog was losing her mind with excitement.

Malachi piled food on his plate, dropping sunnyside eggs on a pile of fried potatoes and throwing the sausage every place on the plate, he began to quietly dig in. He had no idea why he’d brought Julia home. If it’d been any other person, he’d probably had left them. He would more than likely have let the two girls fight in the middle of the club, maybe dragging them away after a few deadly blows. Julia reminded him a bit of Leah. Maybe he had a soft spot for the little smart ass. Whatever it was, she was there and that was it.

He merely lifted his brow when she walked into the room. He supposed she looked alright, but he was pretty sure that he hadn’t heard his shower go on. Was she afraid to shower at his place? He supposed as a single girl in a strange place, that could be a thing. He wasn’t offended, and continued to eat. Momo pressed herself against the girl’s leg, wiggling so hard that he was afraid her tail was going to wag off because of the violence of her wagging. He gave a brilliant grin, laughing low.

“Potions are in the cabinet over there.” He gestured, pointing to the cabinet next to his fridge. “All of them are labeled, and there might be a hangover drink in there.” He put sausage in his mouth, chewing slowly as he stared at her seriously. “You’re here because you were drunk as hell, and the guy who you were talking to was trying to dig his hands up your skirt while you were trying to push him up. Sit, and eat.” And as easily as he was just talking about the weather he went back to his food.

Although she was almost entirely fixated on the food in front of her, feeling the furry body move excitedly against her leg was a welcome feeling. Julia liked dogs--she liked all animals really, but dogs were definitely up high on her list. Their happy faces, wagging tails, excitement over seeing their human...it was adorable. Even though she knew she could barely take care of herself, let alone an animal as dependant as a dog, she couldn't help the thought jumping around her head as she reached down to pet the excited animals head again. Attempting to be as discreet as possible, Julia tore off a bit of her sausage and slipped it to the animal by her leg.

"Oh, awesome," Julia replied as a way of thanks, before practically jumping off her chair and heading over to the cabinet. With the pounding in her head, though, she realized a moment too late that moving with such force wasn't doing any favors for her headache. Blinking against the day light flooding the room, Julia let out a soft, "Ow." The wave of pounding subsided quickly and she made her way to the indicated cabinet, opening the door and scanned for something that might help her. Settling on the first one she say, she made her way back to the kitchen.

"I didn't see hangover, but I saw headache and that's really what's important right now," the teenager said with a small smile, before throwing some of it back into her mouth. Her face contorted almost immediately as she processed the taste of the potion. It was sour, leaving her mouth with a bitter taste on her tounge. The blonde reached for the nearest glass of water she saw, assuming it was Malachi's, and took a large gulp, hoping to wash the taste of the potion off her tounge. It helped well enough, Julia thought, before moving back towards the food.

"Sorry," the German said, gesturing toward the water glass she had taken control over. "That was bitter as hell. Who does that? Oh they have a headache, let's just distract them with the sour taste of this potion!" Her facial expressions and toned mimiced that of a dim-witted business man, finishing her speech with an eye roll and a shrug and she tore into a pancake. "Thanks though, I needed that. My headache is basically gone."

At least Julia had the decency to blush as the man told her off. However, she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh at his description of the night's events. Cutting into her pancake and taking a bite Julia fixed her bright blue eyes on Malachi. Through a mouthful of food, she asked, "Well, was he at least hot?"
