There was progress, and he was making it his own. He worked hard, and he was making his way through the veins of the law enforcement department of the ministry of magic. However, he knew he had been putting much strain on his relationship with Mallory. He rarely saw her anymore and it made him feel ill to his stomach to know she was alone in their flat without him on some evenings because he would be working so often. Chael truly needed to be home with her tonight, so he made sure he would be and took off early.

Coming home, he had gotten flowers, roses, for his girlfriend. He was sure she was at home, or he hoped. It was only four in the afternoon and she may have been out. Either way he would be there for her when she did come home. Sighing, he turned the street corner to his apartment. He wished he wasn't such a lousy boyfriend. He wished he was more emotional and in tune with her. He didn't even understand why she stayed with him after all these years. Perhaps out of pity?

Walking finally to his apartment door, he entered the door gently. "Mal?" he said, rather quietly. "I'm home." he added.

There was so much going on in Mallory's life and it was just harder because Chael was working so much. Mallory was still working on being an auror. Thankfully they pushed aside the fact her N.E.W.T's weren't fully finished because she was part of the battle. Mallory couldn't even finish her last year old school because of all the bad memories from the battle. Just a month ago Mallory drank some enchanted beer and almost cheated on Chael with her best friend, Memphis. Thankfully, their feelings for their loves of their lives controlled them a little more than the drink. Mallory was home today because she had to work on research end of her job. Mallory aced spell casting and disguises, obviously, but the research part was just over-whelming. She really was not the best person for research. They provided a project that made the trainees to find the dark wizard by putting the puzzles together. They were given different facts and stories of real events that happened. It was their job to piece everything together like a private investigator. It was starting to give her a headache. Chael would probably be better at figuring this stuff up.

Mallory laid her head on the back of the couch. She was wearing pajamas that were a light pink color and white socks. The papers were littered around her completely disorganized. Her head was throbbing. As she closed her eyes and rubbed her tempers it sounded like someone entered the apartment. Oh crap she forgot to lock the door! Well if someone was breaking in thankfully she was good at hexes. She brought her head down and heard someone talk, then a 'I'm home.' Seeing Chael come in holding roses she smiled brightly.

"Why aren't you at work?" She stood up, some of the papers falling into the ground. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders kissing him gently on the cheek. She turned her head at the flowers, raising an eyebrow. "Flowers?" She smiled at him. "What's the reason? Oh- merlin- did I forget something important?" She bit her lip. Work was consuming both of their lives.
