[the hounded hare] Cold wives and sunday papers [Mikhail]

It was a long time since Cezary had been in such good spirits. His brief encounter with Dieter had opened up some new wounds and left the brunet feeling down. He had escaped from the world for a bit into his basement with his bodies and had made each day become exactly the same. It was comforting, sort of, and easier when he didn't have to think about anything. He was happy with his wife, and things were smoother now with than than they had ever been. He had been feeling properly affectionate to her, which was new. He wasn't feeling as though he needed another man to take the older Klyk's place.

Even so, Cezary hadn't had much of a reason to get out of the house, and even he was beginning to go stir crazy. He never saw Jonas anymore. Though Corvus was still great company, Cezary had hoped to have something other than work to entertain him, so he was surprised as well as excited to find out that his former classmate and friend, Mikhail, had decided to move to London of all places.

Cezary had been a man of few works at school, something that made him  an easy person to be around. Mikhail had, likewise, not liked to share much. Even so, Cezary seemed to understand the other. It was also no secret that Mikhail was... different. That was, if his “roommate” and he were still sharing the same arrangement they had in school. Cezary felt vague comforted knowing that he wasn't the only one who had experienced those sorts of feelings. Jonas had never fully understand the stigma, but he knew Mikhail felt it even as he rejected it.

There was an added element here, too, in that Cezary had been spending more and more time with Mikhail's elder sister, Jana, who was now living with Corvus. It seemed like a small world in times like that, and he was happier for it.

Cezary had suggested they meet at a small gem of an establishment he had recently discovered. He liked it at the hounded hare. It was homey and quiet in its own way, not overtly dark or light, and the kind of place where he could easily slip into the background and fade away. He thought they might both appreciate it, but it had been a long time since he had seen the other. He wondered what had changed in his life. Had things changed as much as they had for him, he wondered. He took a seat at a small table to the left of the bar and ordered a double vodka on ice for himself as he waited for his friend to enter.
