Hi,

If it's not too much trouble would it be possible to get the class lists from Anansi/Athena somehow? I was hoping to check something for a different post I'm writing but obviously can't access their old boards. No worries if not and thanks in advance <33

Wilderness Survival Seminar and Competition
Led by Elizaveta Zukova (NPC)
Life is no picnic, especially in the wild. This class, taught and overseen by renowned survivalist and infamous hardass Eliza Zukova, will teach students how to survive in the outdoors with limited magic. Mimicking the conditions of a hostile captive situation, this activity takes place on the temporary, wizard-made island of Homerus with a barrier around it that limits magic to only the most basic of spells (fire starting, water making, lumos, protego). Students must use their wits to build shelter, fire, and rafts, as well as avoid the roving wild animals and hostile enemy groups.

Day 1 of the 6-day seminar is a lecture taught by Eliza where she teaches basic and advanced survival strategy and how to avoid detection. Day 2, students are sent out alone with a small survival knapsack. They are encouraged to make allies because it is a competition and every one is trying to knock everyone else out to win. Each student is also given a flag with their name on it, to be tied around their wrist. They must guard that flag as if it were their life or a priceless artifact. If their flag is ever taken from them, they lose and are Apparated off the island.

Each student is also given a small orb. If the student finds themselves in danger or fears for their life, the orb may be smashed on the ground. It sends up a beam of light and Apparates them safely off the island. The people who make it to Day 5 of the activity are part of the winner's circle. The winners are graded on different aspects of their performance and the winner of winners gets a prize (most likely a modest scholarship).

  ITEMS IN THE SURVIVAL PACK
        ▪ An endless rope
        ▪ A water-charmed tarp
        ▪ A length changing blade (axe, machete, and knife form)
        ▪ A map of the island
        ▪ A compass
        ▪ A water pouch
        ▪ A small vial of wound salve
        ▪ Apparating orb

Cartography and Navigation
Led by Dr. Ba'al az-Zahir
What would people know without maps? People would never know where to go or what far off lands looked like without going there. They give us a sense of world and context. This laid-back seminar teaches students the age-old art of cartography. Using the handful of magical wooden daysailer boats on loan from Iambros Import/Export, students in groups of 2-4 are to sail through the relaxing and scenic nearby islands and draw up their own maps, making their own stylistic and organizational choices, all while learning marine navigation.

The Art of Scientific Inquiry
Led by Dragos Şerbănescu and Medusa
Science and faith may often be irreconcilable, but science and magic are not. In this seminar, students will learn and apply the scientific method to magic. The scientific method is a body of techniques for investigating phenomena, acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. Students will follow the simple five-part method (Question, Hypothesis, Experiment, Analysis, Conclusion/Discussion) by applying it to some aspect of the magical universe. Working in groups of 2+, students are encouraged to design and carry out experiments that they are interested in (e.g. Does a bowtruckle hunt by sight or smell, what is the ideal heat condition for dragon's blood in a potion, how does a spell work if pronunciation is wrong but the people saying it have accents?). The final project is a detailed two-scroll report with a third scroll as a reflection on the experience.

Magical Arts and Crafts
Led by Gregoire Cartier
In this class art comes to life! Students will not only learn how to make fun colorful crafts but also how to use magic to enchant them. Not far up the path from the dining hall is a one room wooden structure with painted childrens handprints covering the walls. Inside the building the walls are lined with shelves containing all sorts of art materials including, but not limited to, papers, paints, glues, glitter, crayons, scissors, markers, clay, paper mache materials, feathers, fabrics, and beads. The far wall has a large stone fireplace and the center of the room is full of small worktables big enough for a few students to sit together in groups at a time. Some examples of the various projects that can be worked on are: Paper crowns for princesses and princes that when enchanted and worn change the wearers clothes to regal gowns and the shining armor of knights. Magical monsters made of plastic cartons and whatever adornments students wish to make that come to life after spells are applied and follow their students around making monstrous noises. Friendship bracelets that are spelled to reflect the mood of the wearer of the connected bracelet. Custom mini Quidditch sets that can be enchanted to play out past games of the creators favorite teams or to battle other custom mini Quidditch teams. With magical arts and crafts the possibilities are endless!

Herbology and Potion Making Scavenger Hunt
Led by ____

How skilled are you hunting for your own herbs? Can you think on your feet to be able to search for the correct herbs and thus continuing to use clues to find the rest and make the correct potion with the herbs provided to you? This activity makes students think on their feet and figure out clues to lead them to the herbs and items that they need to make Volubilis Potion potion. The students will start off with their very own cauldron provided by Holmwood and Co. Apothecary and basic items for potion making. Each herb that the child finds has another clue to lead to the next herb. Don't get confused because they might lead you astray if you read the clue wrong. The students can work together in groups of 2 to 5 depending on their skill sets to find the herbs and finally make the potion. The group that successfully makes this potion will get a lovely and fun surprise when they drink it. The key to success is working together and being patient.

Classes will begin on Tuesday June 2nd at 10:00AM. Classes will run from 10:00AM to 12:00PM with an hour break for lunch and then from 1:00PM to 3:00PM each day. Activities (unless otherwise specified) will begin after 3:30PM. Each lesson is approximately 1 hour long and students are free to fill their schedules however they need to. In addition to Advanced and Remedial core subjects, the following specialty classes will also be taught at the Academy Anansi. Dinner will be served at 7:00 PM each night and curfew (unless otherwise specified) is at 9:00PM for Mboro Hornets, 10:00PM for Osebo Leopards, and 11:00PM for Onini Pythons.

FAMILIAR SUMMONING: taught by Kikuchi Shoichi
In this series of lessons, students will learn of the ancient and respected magic that is Familiar Summoning. With roots in many cultures and a historical significance in the Wizarding World as a whole, this class is for advanced students only. After learning about the origin of the subject, students will be instructed on how to craft a totem or talisman to bind their familiar to. Once the object is complete, and with the guidance of a skilled professor, students will begin to summon their familiars and form the bond that will link them. If a student manages to complete the ritual, they will be able to act with their familiar.

BARRIER WORK: taught by Kurosaki Ryuuji.
In this course originating from Mahoutokoro Institute, students learn both the importance of barriers and how to make them on their own. Barriers can be used to protect people, items, and potentially even large swatches of land from a host of threats, but due to the diversity of uses, they are extremely situation-dependent. Students will learn the magical dynamics of building barriers for different purpose, and how to effectively empower and maintain them without without draining themselves. This class will test the strength of the barriers they produce quite thoroughly, as they will also be pitted against each other and taught how to break into barriers as well.

WAR & WARGAMES: taught by Elizaveta Zukova [NPC]
This year's course combines the dangers inherent in wilderness survival with the added challenge of a full-scale war game among the students. The first three weeks of the class are a series of lectures on the history of military engagement in the wizard and muggle world, that then goes on to teach the strategies of war and battle, touching on everything from psychology to spell physics. After two weeks of study and preparation, the students take part in a Wargame designed by Ms. Zukova, which will be a cross between capture the flag and wizard battle, where the objective is to capture the enemy base and combatants through the real-time application of the many strategies they learned in class. More information will be released at the beginning of the game.

STORM WEAVING & WATER MANIPULATION: taught by _____. [NPC**]
In this series of courses pulled from the Koldovstoretz curriculum, students will be taught to weave the wondrous might of mother nature. With a great respect for the earth and its underlying forces, students will learn ancient magics that allow witches and wizards to manipulate weather patterns, divine information from the atmosphere, and affect the might of the seas. Due to the nature and inherent danger of the subject, the lessons will be mostly theoretical. It is important to build a deep understanding foundation in this type of magic before attempting to use it. At the end of the course, however, students will be taught a couple of small scale spells such as writing in the clouds, conjuring localized lighting, creating small waves off shore, and finding the sun no matter the cloud coverage.

INTRODUCTION TO MERMISH: taught by Dayana Bijoux [NPC].
In this introductory class, students will learn the basics of the Mermish language with a special emphasis on the Caribbean dialects. In addition to the language, the lessons will also cover the history of the Mermish culture in the Caribbean islands, including various examples of when they have impacted wizarding history for better or worse. Dayana Bijoux is a rather old and nearly pureblooded Siren with a strange compassion for witches and wizards. She agreed to teach these lessons with the hope that it would bring the two species closer together with a mutual understanding.

MYAL/OBEAH FETISHES: taught by Jonathon Emerson.
This foundation course will teach students the art of fetishes. Fetishes are inanimate objects that have been charmed to be powerful wards or, in some cases become cursed artefacts. Students will learn the history of fetishes, and the types of objects that can be used to construct them. After a discussion of theory behind the art of fetishes, a practical application will follow. Students may choose to create either a protective fetish or an active charm. This course is great for students who may not be skilled in wandwork, but would still like to cast spells of power.

MAGICAL CANDIES & CONFECTIONERY: taught by Honey Bea Flume.
This class is a combination of charms and potions, with the additional bonus of snacks! It focuses on the three basic types of chocolate: white, milk, and dark. Both classic and magical techniques will be taught, including the ever important "no melt" charms that are required for warmer climates. More advanced students will learn additional ways to charm their chocolates. All students will be given different options for candy fillings, featuring a wide variety of local flavors.

ROCK CLIMBING & BASE JUMPING FOR WIZARDS: taught by Roxanna Rathbone.
In this fast paced class, students will briefly be taught how to use harnesses, parachutes, ropes, and other technical equipment used to rock climb and base jump. After the introduction, the real fun will begin with the application of various magical charms. Students will be taught cushioning charms and slip protections, methods to speed up the rate of climbing and the strength of ropes, and how to enchant any cloth into a parachute for emergencies. Finally participants will be allowed to chose their own course up the face of the southern cliffs of the island. Only beginner courses have magical warding in case a climber should fall. Once at the top of the mountain, students are permitted to take the jump.

LATIN FOR MAGICAL PRACTICE: taught by _____. [NPC**]
Latin is the basis of many spell languages, and that is certainly true for Ilvermorny magic. In this class students learn Latin and how it can be used in the magical world. A working understanding of the language can be used to identify unfamiliar spells and curses, and for the sufficiently advanced can be used to create spells.

SHADOW MAGIC: taught by Lorelei Faulkner. [NPC]
Shadow Magic is the study of shadow manipulation. In the hands of a magic-user, shadows are far more than the absence of light. They can be manipulated just as an element can, though with a much different outcome. One of the most basic Shadow Magic practices is learning how to summon one strong enough to snuff out a light, the bigger the light, the more magic is required. Shadows can be as ephemeral as smoke, and thus their creation and control is a matter of utmost focus. Once students have learned to summon a shadow, the possibilities are endless. Though shadows do not exist on the physical plane, a exceptionally skilled wizard may even master the practice of Shadowing-- the ability to slip in and out of shadows like physical space for a certain amount of time.
