Paint it like Britto (Rion)

Trudy had signed up for as many activities as she could possibly fit into the days at the camp. After all, you never knew when you'd have a chance to try all these things out again. She was having a great time so far, enjoying every single moment no matter what kind of activities it was she was trying out. Some were not quite what she liked but it was great to figure that out for herself.

She was wearing an old t-shirt and blue jeans for today's painting class, thinking that it didn't matter if she'd spoil these clothes. The girl knew that whenever paint was involved she'd soon enough have her fingers all colourful and shortly after that there'd be some stains on her clothes. While they could be removed by magic they weren't allowed magic at the camp and so it would be a shame to have – at least for a while – spoiled her favourite clothes.

Although it was always hard for her to part with Edna the plush erumpent, Trudy thought that her little friend was better left in the cabin. “It's safer for you,” she had told the toy with a smile. “Don't look at me like that. I'll show you the painting later.” Then she had made her way to the class that was held outside as most things seemed to be here at the camp.

There were huge canvases, taller than Trudy herself and countless paint-pots as well as brushes. The little Ravenclaw was excited and already wondered what she could paint when one of the counsellors began to address the group of students, saying that always two would have to share the paint-pots. They also showed art from a muggle painter, suggesting to imitate the style in the way that they'd outline a figure (a human, an animal or a magical creature) and paint it in many bright colours. It sounded fun although Trudy would have preferred it if they had got no instructions whatsoever. Anyway, getting guidelines didn't necessarily mean that they'd have to follow them closely or maybe it did?

Curiously Trudy looked around to see if there was any familiar face near by and spotted Rion, a boy from Hufflepuff. She didn't know him well but so far he had done nothing to make her think that there was any reason not to like him. Hence the girl made a beeline for her year mate and beamed at him.

“Hey!” she said brightly, “shall we share the paint-pots then? What's your favourite colour?” Thinking that they weren't meant to paint an animal in its natural colours, the girl figured that Rion might like to use a lot of his favourite colour – whichever that might be.

Hyperion Hollyoake had only just realized that he stumbled into the wrong class when he was hollered at, seeing the the massive canvases nearly covering the floor of what he now realized was the Arts room, not the Music room as he'd intended. They were just about as tall as Rion, with a kaleidoscope of colors surrounding them in various pots, dishes and palates. It was a veritable mine field for the tall boy, who on an open field would trip on himself, let alone a room filled with objects to be spilled and broken.

He looked across the treacherous space to connect the face with the voice who'd met up with him, which turned out to be Wiltrud, whom he'd decided to call Trudy, a Ravenclaw girl in his year. The teacher was too busy giving instruction to have noticed him entering the classroom, but he now was too embarrassed to leave. So, he very carefully-- or as carefully as someone who regularly acted like a giraffe on roller-skates could manage, crossed the room with Trudy.

He offered her a smile as he kneeled on the ground near her when they got back to the canvas, trying to move things to accommodate himself. It was then he noticed that he was "overdressed" for the occasion. He was wearing his favorite Banshees tee, the one with @Charlie Baker on, and clean white shorts. He quickly looked around to see if there was anything that he could cover himself up with-- maybe they had art smocks or aprons? Sadly, a cursory glance revealed nothing to be a suitable covering. He briefly looked back at Trudy, who he actually hadn't said hello to.

"How's ya, Trudy?" he grinned, looking down into the blonde's eyes, noticing just how tall he was in comparison to the Ravenclaw girl. "We painting' tha' massive canvas?" he gestured to the canvas, a puzzled look on his face. "Why don' we share the canvas too? Its big 'nough for the two of us." He said, patting the canvas lightly like a drum. His hands bounced off lightly due to the tautness of the canvas around the wood stretcher, and it made a satisfying bop as he did it.

When she asked his favorite color, he put his hand to his chin, stroking it thoughtfully as he looked through the paint choices. He noticed a paint pot right behind Trudy that held a color he liked, a rather dark green, with hints of blue in it.  "Tha' one," he pointed to the spot the paint was situated in.

"You know wha' we're supposed to do?" he said in a rather embarrassed whisper to his newly art friend. He'd come in and was too preoccupied by not falling on his face to actually catch the gist of their assignment. He hoped the blonde had a better grasp on it than he did.

Trudy eyed Rion curiously, thinking that he was brave to wear white shorts to a painting class. Maybe, she thought, he disliked them and wanted them spoiled with some colour? It was an option and she'd find out about this sooner or later. If that was indeed his ambition, Trudy was definitely ready to help him.

“I'm good,” Trudy said brightly in response to the boy's question. “How about yourself?” She paused briefly. “Are you one of these people who can paint without even getting paint on your fingers let alone clothes or…” She shrugged, unsure if she should share her initial idea.

“Sure thing!” she nodded eagerly. “We can share the canvas and possibly take a second one after that if we're done early. That is…” She paused, frowning slightly, “if we really want to do the same thing. If not we should have each our own canvas.”

As Rion pointed out his favourite colour, Trudy smiled at him. “That's a pretty colour! I think I like that sky blue colour next to yours best. However, I always struggle to pick a favourite colour… there are so many that look nice.”

It surprised the girl that her companion apparently didn't know what they were supposed to do. It was odd, considering that he had suggested sharing a canvas without even having a clue what he was going to do with it. She raised her eyebrows and put left hand on her hip. “You did not listen to the instructions?!?” She asked absolutely not disapprovingly but certainly in a surprised tone.

“We're supposed to paint a person or a creature in the style of some muggle artist whose name I've forgotten. He seems to paint black outlines of an animal or something and then fills the fields with plain colour or patterns.” The girl shrugged. “Looks colourful and fun actually. I was thinking to paint an erumpent. If you're fine with that we can share a canvas. If not… well, then we'll both have our own.” She smiled at the boy from Hufflepuff. To her it did not matter if she shared the canvas or not. However, she was determined to paint her erumpent.
