Jet watched one of his cactuses wiggle in its pot, and he grinned, glancing back at Hyacinth briefly. She was sitting at one of the tables they usually used during classes, but those had passed a while ago. It was late in the afternoon, but the sun was still up, peeking at them over the glass and casting a gentle light over them.
It looks beautiful, Jet thought. It was one of the reasons he liked hanging around here so much. The glass could play with the sunlight in amazing ways, and he enjoyed watching how it changed the surroundings based on what time of the day it was.
He made a soft sound as he felt a tickle on his hand, turning back to watch the plant in the pot nudge him gently.
"Look, it's so happy to see me," he cooed, playing with the plant carefully. He didn't get how people could think of cactuses as ugly. Sure they often had thorns, but roses had those too, and it didn't make them unappealing. Jet knew that plants acted towards people the same people treated them. This little guy was the perfect example.
"How's your homework, Hy?" He asked his friend, eyes focused on his little plant, almost like a cat watching a red dot.
"Do you need any help with it?" He asked, giving the girl another glance, smiling sweetly. He had already finished all schoolwork he had in the library earlier. It was easier for him to focus there, because, in greenhouses, he usually got distracted by, well, by the plants. It was the same with owlery. He could never study there, or even write a letter because the animals would have all his focus. He couldn't help himself.
"Oh, you wanted to ask me about something during class, right? Transfiguration, was it? I think? You got interrupted, though." He remembered, pushing away from the table on which his plants were and turning towards the Hufflepuff girl.
"If you still remember what you wanted to talk about, of course."@Hyacinth Reed
