Fflur had called it ‘a night out on the town’ exactly once, realized how old and creaky that made her sound (and feel), then started calling it ‘dinner and a show’. Or maybe ‘show and dinner’ was more appropriate, considering they had already gone to the show and were now on their way to dinner.

The play had been… interesting. It had been described as a political period drama and it sure did seem to check the political and period boxes very well. Of course if Fflur had been in charge of picking the play, she wouldn’t have picked something political nor something about politics. She had gone out during intermission for a smoke and had seriously considered not going back. But letting Robin pick the show seemed like their best bet, and she wasn’t about to ruin the night by being obviously uninterested in it all, or telling him she hated it. They were out of Hogsmeade, and that was sort of the point.

Fflur had picked the dinner place; or, she had made the booking at the restaurant Charlie had suggested when she asked for an idea. It was close to the theater, but the theater crowd had thinned out, judging from the lesser amount of fancy dress she was seeing. They passed an Italian restaurant, then went into the one next door, the one with the higher amount of fancy dress. Fflur asked for the Blevins booking and the hostess asked them--”Mr and Mrs Blevins”--to follow her. That boded well.

Wine declined, Fflur and Robin were left on their own with their menus. “I thought Italian sounded safe,” she said, glancing up at Robin with a small, almost apologetic smile. “But I'm not really seeing spaghetti and meatballs here.” Maybe a pub would have been a better bet after all.
