Fflur returned yet another DVD case to the shelf-- another reject, another indecisive minute spent at Blockbusters. It had been twenty minutes or so already, and looking like it would take twenty more at this rate. But Fflur was feeling it, the time spent without a cigarette. They needed to pick soon so they could walk back to Charlie’s-- and she wasn’t about to go outside and let Charlie make the final decision.
A seven-year-old--give or take a year--ran past, quickly followed by another kid of indeterminate age. Fflur flattened herself against the shelves, staring at the ceiling in a long, drawn out eye roll.
She reached for another option--Shrek 2--and held it up for Charlie to take a look at the cover. “What about this one?†She gave it a second before she flipped it over to read the description, not lingering long enough to think about it for very long. Nope. “I never saw the first one,†she said as she set it back on the shelf, as if that was the reason she didn’t want to watch it.
“Or…†She stretched up on her toes to look over the shelves, scan the genres on the aisles. It didn’t inspire any ideas, though, and Fflur dropped back to her heels. “I dunno.â€
