Hi guys

My name is Valery-Kim, but I usually go by Val or Albie (long story).  In the real world, I'm a university student looking for something to screw around with during lectures.  I used to be pretty into the original books when they first came out, but I've just started getting interested in RP after recently watching the whole film series over again. 

Super excited to be here, and I LOVE the artwork you guys come up with.

Hey Val!

I'm Jared, one of the mentor team members here on MH! I play (or drive) @Elias Deyer, @Austin Vinewood, and of course Volya here. We're currently celebrating our thirteenth year, so you're definitely arriving at a good time to start playing MH. It's also summer, so that means many more people to interact with day to day and to thread with. A good way to get to know people, and in turn their characters, is to make a Sandbox! This is not necessary at all, but it is a space for you to tell us about you and your characters, and it'll encourage people to come by and say hello! I liken it to, "if you build it, they will come" XD.

If you questions or concerns about the sorting process, or any extra material you may need for your character, definitely let me know! Don't be afraid to connect with any of the other Mentor Team ( @Brynn Caines, @Keela Doyle, @Julia König, or @Koala Cooper ) or any of our Administrators ( most especially @Damien Conway though, because he's our Sandbox Admin and boss ) that happen to be floating around, they are definitely here to help and willing to work to make you comfortable here!

Heya!

I'm Melanie, but a lot of people just call me Mel. I'm honestly okay with whatever nickname you can up with, so feel free to call me whatever you want, haha. I'm 20 - or, rather, 19+. I've been writing for a long time and RPing only for the past couple or so years; I didn't discover the wonderful world of forums and (clean) roleplaying till about 2 years ago. I'm head admin of a site two friends created and handed down to me, but because of inactivity it's pretty much been dead for a while (all the active users had simultaneous real-life drama/stuff happening, so they stopped writing) and I've been bored outta my mind, hence this site.

Uhh, I'm probably oversharing but you asked for an introduction and by golly you'll get one: I have ADHD, so I tend to rant a lot. Writing is my hyperfocus and passion, so it's one of the few things I can actually sit and do for long periods of time without getting all fidgety. I think I'll stop here before I end up with an essay >.< Heh, sorry.

Welcome Mel! As Billie said, we're very excited to have you here! I'm Taed, one of the admins here on Magical Hogwarts. It sounds like you've got some good solid roleplaying experience, but if you do have any questions, don't hesitate to send a personal message to me, or any of the admins, or the Mentor Team, or... well, really, anyone! We're quite a friendly group.

You've also joined the site right in the middle of our 13th anniversary celebration, so I encourage you to look around and get comfortable and just have a good time! Hey Mel @Kayleigh Walters ! My name is Georgia, and I'm basically here to parrot what Billie and Taed said above ^^ We're a really friendly bunch here so if you have any questions feel free to ask, and we also tend to be pretty active as a whole, although drivers do sometimes go on a hiatus. To start off creating your character I would recommend that you create a sandbox. This is where most of our members post their characters sheets before they are fully completed. You can post it as a WIP (work-in-progress) there and find connections for your characters - friends, enemies, love interests, etc. Of course you don't have to do this; if you want, you can just put it straight into your profile! Do you have any idea as to what type of character Kayleigh is going to be yet?

Hey guys! Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm actually more used to forumotion sort of forums, so all this is a bit new to me, haha (it's also a tonne more complicated xD). So, apologies in advance for the multiple questions I'll have, heh.

Uhh, what's a sandbox? XD I know most terms (GM, IC, OOC, WIP, etc) but I've never heard of a sandbox before, heh.

Kayle is a someone I've had for a while now, so I know her back and front, haha. She's actually how I discovered I had ADHD; I had decided to make a character with it, and I was Googling symptoms and ended up reading the ones for adults, and I was everything on the list. Kayle is better at managing than me, though, because she grew up knowing she had it instead of learning at 18/19. She's friendly and outgoing, loves to make friends, and is generally really caring and kind. She tends to be a bit overbearing at times, though, without realising; she tends to talk without thinking, and when she gets excited it comes across as forceful behaviour.

If we're allowed to choose what house she's in (I forgot if there was a sorting process here or if we can pick) she's most likely a Hufflepuff, although she's got Gryffindor traits, too. xD

The sandbox (Georgia left you a link her her last post!) is just a place you can make connections with your character, and write out your character's application without any sort of stress. You can definitely choose the house (or you can let whatever admin sorts you to choose!). She sounds super interesting so far. Can't wait to see her around :3

There is a sorting process here but we can basically pick: if you want a character who's a Hufflepuff, then write their sheet with a Hufflepuff personality. If you want a character who's a Klyk Vampira, then write their sheet with a Klyk Vampira personality. The admin who's sorting her will officially pick her house, but you could just make it so it's very obvious what house they're in through their personality section if you wish If you are unsure what house you want them to be in then just write whatever personality you want and let the admin decide!

Speaking of that! Make sure in your sheet, to not mention their house until they are actually sorted, then you can retcon their sheet to add the house in.

I've put up a sandbox ... thingy (xD) ... and I hope I can get the profile done today. xD I've already got a lot of her background and history saved somewhere, so I just have to edit it to suit the site, haha.

Also, sorry for more questions, but am I allowed to write NPCs? I mean, Kayle has a brother. In posts, am I allowed to say she was interacting with him (I mean, of course I won't write him interacting with others I'm RPing with)? Like, for example, as a set up to an open thread or something:

"Oh, it's not too bad, Tris," she teased, giving him a half grin. "Anyway, I gotta run. See you later, yea?"

Tristan rolled his eyes and raised a hand in acknowledgement; with a chuckle, Kayleigh walked off, humming a tune under her breath, towards the library to finish her homework.

And yes, that's totally fine. As long as you keep her brothers actions to a minimums so you aren't actually playing him rather than Kayleigh, then you are allowed to use him as a NPC. However, you could also have someone adopt him! This is where another drivers takes your NPC and plays them. An example of this my my character Tori: she has a large family with many cousins, and other people on this site have adopted 2 of them and made them into played characters ( @Fabien Álvarez & @Katy Álvarez -- who isn't sorted yet)
