Scholarship $$
« on: March 10, 2011, 01:40:26 AM »
Hey, I'm creating a charrie that came from a poor family, but is now a medi-wizard in-training.
I was wondering If there would be some kind of scholarship that he got to help him through? Just for something to mention on a sheet ^^
Thanks in advance.

this isn't really an answer, more some musing;

seeing as we don't really encounter any scholarships in the books, it's hard to say whether they exist or not. It's possibly more likely for when attending post-school education, such as a med school, that maybe if they did super well while at their school, they might be able to get a scholarship.

Alternatively you could maybe have them supported by a benefactor of some kind (possibly even an anonymous one).

Or simply working their way through with a part time job(s).

I was thinking of this as well because I am making a poor muggleborn.  I believe that there are some sort of scholarships for hogwarts...is that correct.  Also I would muse about something like a student loan from gringots.  I mean there is not a DR in the USA that does not have a bunch of student loans!

Well, idk if this helps, especially since I'm not an Admin

but my really, really poor character who'll be going to a medical school has been applying for tons of scholarships. Without it, there would be no way he could get in. I assume he has one to go to Durmstrang as well.

I'm pretty sure there is some form of 'fund' or scholarshippy thing at Hogwarts (for ickle Tom Riddle, for example).

I do imagine that they'd have some kind of similar thing for students going to med school etc... I mean, the schools wouldn't want to lose talented students. A student loan from Gringotts also sounds plausible. Thanks, guys :)

I see no reason why there wouldn't be scholarships. We may not see any in the books, but I would imagine this is because there is no situation in which any of the main characters needs one. Go ahead with it.
