Muggleborns
« on: June 02, 2011, 08:31:47 AM »
I am just wondering what happens after the battle with regard to muggleborns.

Is there an immediate switch of power in the ministry which immediately lifts the laws against muggleborns... or does it take time? Would there be coverage in the Prophet saying 'oops we're sorry, they aren't evil afterall' or something? How far after the battle would this occur? I'm guessing there would still be a lot of suspicion from a brainwashed public, but I'd like to know from a ministry/legal point of view when I can put Pike back into society.

Certainly those muggleborns who had been wrongly sent to Azkaban would receive help from the Ministry to reintegrate into the wizarding world, and I daresay there would be compensation for those whose health is affected in the long term as well. As for those who had been in hiding the only thing I think likely would be that Order members or the Ministry would look for them in case they hadn't realised the war was over.

As for your second question I'm slightly confused. We'll be creating plots on the site as usual, though these aren't likely to be connected to the battle once that's finished. Are you expecting something in particular that you'd like us to organise? :)

This is kind of just a clarification question, but for those people who worked in the Muggleborn Registration Commission would they all go to Azkaban? If not, I imagine there would be a huge publicity backlash against those people, right? They might get shamed from working in the ministry again, or something?

I remember I had Cormac working there when the branch was new, and being too afraid to leave once they began doing the sketchy bits. Now that it's over, he obviously doesn't have a job anymore. I said in his sheet update that his father was pulling a lot of strings to keep his name out  of the backlash, and wasn't able to get him another job in the ministry, despite all of their connections. Does that sound about right?

OK, for people on the muggleborn registration committee - think of them like Voldie supporters in the first wizarding war. There were all kinds of excuses WHY they did what they did - Imperiused, scared, families threatened etc...I see no reason why the same wouldn't apply to those working on the committee. Cormac's update sounds fine. There would always be some people who manage to climb out of the maure pile smelling of roses, so to speak, though!

not really, i was just wondering if the order was going to have a lot more pull within the ministry n the like.
what about for people creating muggleborn students who aren't familiar with the site. let's say they had their students on the run or in hiding or at BB or something, i know that i started working things out with lena (geo/charlie) but i guess i was wondering if there was going to be something on a grander scale for muggleborns student aged?

You mean whether we're going to put something into the guides explaining the options for muggleborn students during that year?

what about the muggleborns in hiding would they have to repeat a year in Hogwarts? That is if they didn't go to Beauxbatons...

Yes.

There are very few muggleborn characters who are actually actively rolplaying this conflict. We didn't think it necessary to stir their plots one way or another. It's up to the individual how they want to play their char. As for the ministry, if anyone wanted to organise a "muggleborn reintegration committee" or some such they can, but we're not going to force people into making use of such a service. It's really up to the individual drivers and what they want to do.

There will be new things to watch out for though very soon. However, a ministry division isn't currently part of what we are planning to promote as admins. However, if you and others want to rp this and create something to that effect, feel free to do so. If we can aid in any way, we certainly will. I personally think it is a cool idea and it had occurred to me before as well. I am just worried that the lack of played muggleborns will make this difficult to pull off.

Yeah, I think we will get more muggleborns again and I am looking forward to sorting them. If anything player created comes up I will refer people to it as an option to include in sheets. I think I read one or two muggleborns and halfbloods already who came up with a personal solution for the year out. People seem to be very creative when it comes to explaining their time away. It made for a nice read.
