yes I am thinking we are sticking with the elemental idea :)

And yes I still think it's open to everyone. I liked that aspect.

And I see no problem on two guys cooperating somehow. As this is still in the planning stages.

Morrigan?

These plots all sound really fun. I like the way they connect into one another and create new tensions for the magical world overall.

I don't have a problem with it... I just wanted to be the trouble maker for once....

i guess my only concern is... you have one completely nutters person doing something, it works... but two people requires some mental stability to create the plan. unless they have a young and impressionable and completely sacrificial minion. basically, he intentionally infects the other person with the goal of spreading the plague. and doesn't realize until too late he infected himself as well...

That doesn't make sense to me. If i was going to create a virus to kill a large group of people, or even harm them.. I would create an anti-virus for myself. Maybe the attacker could have done that, but his own antivirus was faulty and in turn kills him quicker or something.. (Kills bad man)

The key is though that he doesn't plan on being infected by the virus... So why would he need to find an antidote when he doesn't expect himself to become infected? Obviously his own virus he created does infect other people, in turn it also kills him. It's karma. :P

important thing to note: Suicidal insane DE with nothing left to live for, and Batshit Crazy.

Oh, point noted... lol.. What if maybe he thought he would survive and not be infected.. He goes to the party for a while, and maybe he leaves, which in turn affects the rest of the wizarding world. That way people who weren't at the party get infected..

That could work, yeah... I think what someone mentioned yesterday was if the Crazyass DE was already dying from some other illness - something not contagious - and he knew this. So, he's working on something

OOH

actually he COULD have a sidekick who comes with him to the party, but one who is completely and utterly unaware of what's been going on, and has no idea that they're now both infected with said virulent whatever. Mad guy can then do whatever he wants, but the sidekick - who could conceivably be a son/niece whatever who simply knows they have an older relative who has always had an interest in potions (the mad DE could even be a qualified healer and thus know all about diseases) could not realise what was going on, leave early, and thus innocently infect anyone who couldn't find a reason to come to the party but wants to take part in the plot anyway!

I am...not sure I made any sense here xDD

i think your idea could work quite well, carys. it would definitely be a good way to spread the plague.

I agree. I like how Carys idea makes sense and could work.

Did we figure out how long it takes for the infection to become noticeable? That way for those of us who want our characters to become infected we can play out how long they notice side effects and such.

There were a lot of great ideas here, and I'm super excited for these plots to unfurl.

Just some thoughts/ideas to add to the mix:

maybe I've just read and watched too many zombie/fantasy junk, but perhaps the disease could have been a replication of a really old curse made not only with just a crazy potion, but maybe involved runic spells or some serious blood magic. So maybe the cure could involve needing the blood of pureblood wizards as part of its ingredients. As for Healers, they'd probably have a record of the antidote, but because of blood magic involved, they'd have to be careful developing it since it's rather shady territory.

Since all purebloods are somehow related (at least heavily implied in the canon), they'd all have the cursemaker's blood in them, so maybe they quickly develop an immunity and become well. Meanwhile, half-bloods and muggle-borns are stricken with the disease much longer. In a way, this would seem like the Craze DE is finishing the task his master would have done if hadn't been killed. And this would fuel more of the pureblood resentment since they'd get well sooner while others didn't. As for Elementals, since they're more knowledgeable about runic and blood magic, they can probably counter it easily, or simply morph to purge the curse out of their system.

...anyway, I'm done being crazy. >>

And as for the anti-pureblood sentiment, I'm offering the Emersons as part of this political/class schism. It's such a prime moment for them take revenge on all the other pureblood families they've been in conflict with all these generations.
