For clarification, this ball that's coming up...

It's like a Celebration for the War being over, right? When would all of the students from the other schools find out about it, and how would everyone get there? Would they travel much in the same way they traveled for the Triwizard tournament?

bump!

Waiting on a reply to this to make a post

I'm sorry. As Julie hasn't been well I haven't been able to talk to her, and I didn't want to reply without being sure I was giving you the right information. I didn't realise it was necessary to know exact details before we changed playtime, as threads relating to it won't be played out before then anyway. However, I imagine there will be a formal invitation sent from Professor McGonagall and the board of governors to the head teachers of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. As large numbers of students are likely to attend I doubt Durmstrang students would use the ship to travel - the way it's played on MH is a good deal slower than, say, using a portkey or the floo network.

I expect Beauxbatons students would travel by the carriages though. As for adults, once it was discovered there was going to be a victory ball those with an interest in attending would no doubt read about it in the Daily Prophet and their foreign equivalents. It's not like the ball will be any big secret; all and any witches and wizards will be welcome to attend.

I hope that helps.

Well, the post I am referring to is one in which my character's asking a girl to be his date for the dance, and I needed some clarification as to the nature of the dance. I would imagine, though, that if the dance is to be held in November that the students would be bound to know of it by now, wouldn't they? Especially something that's as large-scale as a dance for all three schools.

However, if you feel as though no one would know until the next playtime, then I need to hold off on the post, I suppose. I, personally, just don't think it makes much logical sense for a grand ball for the entire wizarding world to be introduced in the same month that it's going to be held.

I asked Inga if I could mention the ball in a post, so I have? But if there are changes and things to the plot, we could just scrap the thread or modify it or whatever. </not really that relevant>

If it is that big of deal you could always be vague about details, but uunderstand that real life needs to come first for everyone here including admins and things like tiny details can change.  If you can't be patient thenjust have him ask...

Of course they wouuld know but realize that when we do large scale plots like this one it usually takes a month or so.  In this case we are cutting the timeframe down quite a bit, and are all quite overwhelmed with real life stuff.  No need to take offense at that.

We all understand that Julie is extremely busy with work and doesn't have much time on her hands, and I don't think that's what people meant when they asked for the permission to post about it. If the plot's only a month away playtime wise, I don't see why it would be a problem to mention it. Like people said, of course they would know of it quite some time ahead. just my two cents. little details that are changed can also be changed in specific threads if there are mistakes.

i'm excited for this, though! hopefully things get less hectic for everyone.

Reading between the lines, it sounds as though you have your own ideas as to the "nature" of the dance. As this is meant to be a thread for plotting, please would you share your ideas so we can incorporate them into the opener which I'm currently working on? (though I have to say, I don't actually understand what you mean by the nature of the dance. Surely a dance, by definition, is a party where people are expecting to hear music which they dance to? Or maybe I'm too old to know there are different kinds xDD)

We all understand that The Goblin Queen is extremely busy with work and doesn't have much time on her hands, and I don't think that's what people meant when they asked for the permission to post about it. If the plot's only a month away playtime wise, I don't see why it would be a problem to mention it. It's absolutely fine to mention it in threads if you want to. Just please don't ask for tiny details that really aren't important and haven't even been worked out yet. Probably Celestina is going to sing at some point; simply because I play Celestina and she's nagging to come along! Doesn't mean she'll be torturing you all with her godawful songs performing all evening, though xD

As the ball has been discussed from the first page of this topic I didn't realise we hadn't already made it clear that it was a Victory ball, at Hogwarts, with students from both Durmstrang and Beauxbatons invited and adult wizards from all three areas welcome to attend if they had a good reason to. Once again, I apologise.

Now can we all get back to fun stuff? :D

I think where the confusion that people seem to be having stems from the fact that the ball is being held at Hogwarts. most events that happen at the schools are students, or majority students.

The Ball isn't necessarily hosted by the school, in fact it's more likely that its hosted by the ministry. they probably chose the location of the school since it was for one, the site of the death of voldemort, and two, the repair and rebuilding of the school is Symbolic of the fact that despite this horrific past year, we will all move past it.

that being said, EVERYONE would be invited. Students, Teachers, Adults, everyone. because every country played a part in some way.

I hope this clarifies things, and wasn't overstepping my bounds.
