Family connections/connections in general

I've been a member for a year now, and I don't think that I'm ever going to complete this sheet.   :'(

How do connections work really, and how do you go about making them?  I've had a few people offer their characters for connections, but after that I don't really know what to do.  Outside of the sandbox, how do you make connections?  I have a sandbox, and other than a few people, it's been dead. And how does one go about making a family connection?  I have a paternal line created, but I don't really want to create one for my maternal line.  Do I just go through the employment and name directory and message people for a family connection?

You can do it!!

You don't have to have connections to get your sheet done. However, if you want to bump your sandbox and ask for more connections I'm sure people will post in there. You can also ask for family connections for the maternal side. You can also go through the EFB list and look for ones that you feel would work and PM the drivers.

Is there anything else you're stuck on?

Okay, first up - you don't *need* any connections at all. I'm quite unusual on MH in that even after 7 years I still find connections awkward and confusing and most of my characters have fairly stand-alone sheets. They'll have the odd friend or relative mentioned, but only a couple of them are actually affected by the lives of other characters.

Secondly, as for creating a maternal EFB, you can do that in about five minutes if you can't find a suitable family to connect to. Pick middle class or lower for that family line and you can leave the history blank. Alternatively, see if you can connect to the Regan family in some way, seeing as two of the Regan family drivers already replied in your sandbox :) They're one of the biggest played families on MH, so you'd have no shortage of friends for Aislinn that way.

Above all though, don't let the connections thing stop you from finishing the sheet. The majority of new members make their first character without any connections at all, so don't worry too much about it. You can finish this!
