Magical Musical Theatre?
« on: September 14, 2014, 04:29:23 PM »
Hi guys. This question is mainly for the admin team, but members thought would be appreciated too!

I am aware that a magical equivalent of Hollywood blockbusters would not fit into the magical word of Harry Potter due to the wizarding worlds aversion to modern muggle technology. However, how about live entertainment?

I have in mind a muggleborn character whose family have a background in musical theatre. She comes from a fairly affluent family and aspires to start her own magical musical theatre company. The ultimate aim of hers would be for it to one day be the magical equivalent of Broadway. It would be all live entertainment with magic used instead of props etc.

I wanted to post in here before starting to work on her to ask would such a character be accepted by the admin team? Or declined as unrealistic to the HP world. I haven't seen any characters with such a profession around so I thought it best to check.

Thanks for reading

Tye

I just got home from a 3-day songwriting retreat so I'm only writing from memory here, but there is/was a family in the Durm area who had their own theatre...Kasyanova I think? Which I might have spent wrong; and in my head they're all very much still around, but I haven't actually checked!

As the wizarding world is correspondingly smaller than the muggle; I would imagine to be the magical equivalent of Broadway, a 300-seat theatre or possibly two in different areas in the country would be all that would realistically be sustainable...but with those sorts of constaints I personally wouldn't have any issue with it :)

Ooh I'll have to look up the families EFB to see about establishing some sort of link. She's going to be a BB gradute so her aspirations shouldn't clash with that family!

Those constraints sound great and really realistic!

Thank you for your advice <33333
