[Solved] Durmstrang Events
« on: January 16, 2015, 04:22:45 PM »
Hi guys! It's me again!

So I am just about to start the section of the history for my new character which outlines his years at Durmstrang to date. According to the MH Canon timeline compiled by Fee in a previous thread he would have been present for the Zombie invasion in May 1998 and the ministry invasion of June 1997. I think both of these IC events happened while I was on my extended hiatus and so I have a few questions

1) What changes did the ministry actually implement that would have affected the students the most? What would have most likely affected the then second year?

2) Aside from the obvious what happened at the zombie invasion? Where there any deaths? Any serious injuries? Did they ever find out who caused it?

Thank you for reading
Tye

I don't have much info on the zombie event, but I was one of the admins who put together the ministry plot so I can pm you all the info I have about that when I get home from work.

I'm just going to post the information here for anyone who needs it.

The plot actually started in late January/early February 1997 playtime, but the majority of it occurred in June 1997. It culminated during the summer after school let out when the Headmaster and the then-Klyk Vampira Head of House worked with various students and alumni to move the school's location from Kaliningrad to Novaya Zemlya.

And because I have the original plot posting from 2008... yay for finding old hard drives!

.: D u r m s t r a n g - S c h o o l - W i d e - P l o t :.

When: February playtime
Where: The Durmstrang Institute
What’s Going On: Because no one expects the Inquisition...!

Life has been hectic in the magical world as of late and no one truly knows what to expect.  Some are preparing to fight, while others prepare for flight.  Every eye is open, every ear attentive.  The tension in the air is thick enough to cut.  Undoubtedly, with so much to pay attention to, even minor repeat grievances would not be overlooked by the various Ministries of Magic . . . .

As it would happen, there have been several complaints made against The Durmstrang Institute as of late that have come to the attention of the Russian Ministry of Magic.  These complaints include, but are not limited to: the curriculum, the school environment, the smokers, the drinkers, the movers and the shakers.  (I’m kidding about those last two.)  But you get the idea.  Things aren’t quite as peachy keen in the Happy Happy Land of Durmiestrang as they ideally could be and people have (finally) noticed it.

Thus, the Russian Ministry has taken it upon themselves to check things out at the school, just to ensure that everything is nice and proper.  Dot your i's and cross your t's everyone, cuz here comes The Ministry!

So, what does all of this mean, exactly?
Well, I'm glad you asked!
Basically . . . . .

.: For Students, this means... :.

- Routine bed checks - to make sure their dorms are cleaned and kept tidy
- Room searches - for illegal substances (cigarettes, alcohol, drugs)
- Improper materials (such as lighters, man-eating plants, knife collections outside of weaponry) - removed from campus
- Letters searched by the Ministry - making sure nothing improper is sent in to or out of the school
- Interviews - regarding their opinions of professors and their classes
- Impromptu tests - checking up on what they’re learning
- Students with health problems (underweight or overweight) - put on different diets to balance this out as well as exercise regimes
- Uniform checks - regularly

.: For Professors, this means... :.

- Background checks - making sure you are who you say you are
- Curriculum gone over - and checked for consistency
- Classroom invasion - Russian aurors sitting in on classes
- Offices checked - for illegal material

.: Getting Started... :.

- Positions Changing! - new student positions
- Open Professorships! - many new professor positions open

This is going to be amaaaaahzing good time, so please jump in and have fun!

So basically the Russian Ministry controlled nearly everything during that time. They stormed in in the middle of the night late January and forced all students and professors into the Grand Hall as they inspected each room and confiscated anything they felt was inappropriate. It doesn't mention it in the plot post, but access to Primorsk (old Durmstrang location's Belushya Guba) was off-limits for anyone under 5th year. Besides the Russian aurors invading the classrooms during lessons, they'd often corner students and question them. There was a curfew. I want to say it was early like... 8pm or 9pm. Any student caught out of their common room after curfew was interrogated and punished. Some students managed to sneak out and not get caught, but those that did had connections with professors and student leaders. One of the bigger things that occurred in June was the final (though it was really the second to last, but the final was cancelled) quidditch match between Klyk Vampira and Drakonya Krov. There were actually two elementals on the Klyk Vampira team - a rogue fire ele and a rogue air ele. They caused a lot of problems during the game and the fire ele actually made himself combust. I played the Klyk tsaritza during this plot, so if you need to use an older student for whatever reason, you're more than welcome to make any history connections with my char.

was it the OMGZOMBIES plot?

I vivdly remember participating in that. So (correct me if I'm wrong) Mieszko somehow summoned a horde of inferi in the library. A bunch of students had to fight them, and things were set on fire, and a professor stepped in and saved the day?
that was fun xD

Mieszko and Mikhail intentionally but accidentally summoned the inferei together. They didn't think it would work, but it somehow did. However they weren't able to control them at all, which was bad.
and then Cas's fire ele Motya revealed himself as an elemental, I remember, and a few other eles joined in to help.
And then Mieszko and Mikhail both peaced out the back before the professor showed up
