[Solved] Halfbloods in Muggle world
« on: March 29, 2015, 12:59:46 AM »
I have sent the following to the staff member that is editing my sheet. Yet I am struggling with this concept so much that I thought I should post it here. In hopes that it can be settle and explained by all staff old and new. It is dealing with a ncp character who is friends to my character. He is a halfblood his mother being a witch his father a muggle. They move into an apartment in a muggle area.

Quote
Okay I am sorry but that last part I am really having a hard time with. Think about it this way, we are in the 80's where men still provided for women, or did if they had honor. We have a family of three, One muggle one witch and an underage magical child. The father would want to help provide for his family the best he could and not be a deadbeat. If they lived in magical world he could not work, he would be looked down upon. This would eat at him, and his marriage. He loves his wife he loves his son, but he would finally get fed up with being inadequate and end up turning into probably a raging drunk or leaving his wife, or both.  A reasonable man, who thinks about consequences or maybe tried it out for a tiny bit would realize all of this. So therefore would want to move his family to where he can provide for them.

On not wanting to break the secrecy his mother is an adult, heck she could have been muggle born or she can be really intelligent (she is a mediwitch) and understand not to practice magic at home. So therefore there is only her son to be worried about. That be the same as any muggle born child. So basically you are saying that all Muggles + Wizard families have to be broken terrible familys, weak muggle who has no pride, or single parent.

I just can't buy that is how it works, here. Snape can't be the only exception to grow up in muggle world.

I mean this as no disrespect to Pop Star Princess I simply want to be able to hear everything being said instead of just being told that she has talked to other admin and they agree with her. Because I am trying to understand this concept of lack of individual characterness that is being discounted. If it just a simple thing of where they live (meaning in a city/suburb near London) then that is a small thing and I am willing change it. Yet what I am having a hard time with is the concept of a muggle father living in an exclusive wizard community. They be to far from his work. Now if its a small community in the midest or right next to muggle area fine but a long distant like how hogesmede and godric hallows are that is just unreasonable to me.

So then you agree that no muggle+wizard/witch would ever live in the muggle world, that basically my only option is that Simon grow up nowhere near muggle area, so then his father have really no job and be a terrible father or divorce his wife. Because those are the only options I am seeing at this moment. And I am not happy about either of those options.

In fairness, this is not the place to have a discussion like this. There is a sandbox for a reason, so you can work out the kinks that seem too large to be argued about in sorting. I have plenty of reasons for feeling the way that I personally feel about the idea, but this is not the place and I am not the admin who is sorting your sheet. That being said, I am going to lock this and mark it as solved. Please leave all of this sort of thing for the proper place, whether through personal messaging, the sandbox, or your sheet.
