Gently stirring her drink, Julia tried to get some of the ice her vodka cranberry to melt before she lifted the straw to her red lips and took a sip. The German girl sighed lightly, thinking to herself that it might be time to change up her signature drink to something a little more original. She had started to feel her entire life needed a little more...something, though. Her life had become a routine of too much alcohol and late nights. Although she used to thrilled with her lifestyle, it seemed to be growing more listless every day. She was tired and she was lonely and the one person who captured her interest more than anyone always seemed just out of her reach. Julia was desperate for attention and, for her, wanting one person's attention so badly and not receiving it made her feel all sorts of confusing emotions.
It seemed almost too lucky and coincidental that in the midst of feeling so stuck that she should run into one of her old, short lived flames. Julia had found him attractive from the moment she met him--dark hair, tall and covered in tattoos--and his easy going and playful personality put her at ease. Although they had been on a date or two and nothing came of it, Theo was one of the few formers that she wouldn't have minded keeping a friendship up with. Unfortunately, life got the better of both of them and Julia had lost contact and didn't really go out of her way to establish the contact again. She didn't blame him--she remembered him telling her about the things he was doing and she remembered thinking that this one was going places and going to do things and live an interesting life.
Her light blue eyes looked up to the clock on the wall of the small bar restaurant. She had arrived early, wanting to get a drink or two in before Theo arrived. The word "date" made her nervous and, despite the fact the pair never established this as a real date, plans to get drinks and food while catching up sure seemed similar enough to a date for Julia. He approached the catch up session casually enough suggesting, as they coincidentally stood in line for coffee at the same shop one morning, that they should meet up. He never said "date," Julia reminded herself, but the place he suggested seemed too cozy for friends. Tossing her blonde hair behind her shoulder, Julia sighed to herself. The last date she had been on was with John and she liked him and cared for him more than she was willing to admit, but she wasn't good at putting her feelings out there and she felt as though he only saw her as a fling. It sucked, but Julia had almost become too used to even her best relationships just being short lived hook ups.
Licking her lips and adjusting her figure hugging red dress, Julia looked up to see Theo entering the restaurant. Julia smiled and made eye contact with him, motioning him over to the empty seat at the bar next to her. Standing up, the normally short girl--now a respectable 5'4" in her three inch heels--pulled the taller man into a friendly hug and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Hi, how're you," Julia asked with a smile, taking her seat back at the bar. "I wasn't sure if I should get a table or not, but I knew I wanted a drink."
She gave a small nervous laugh, before taking another sip of her drink. She had to remind herself to take it slow on the alcohol tonight as she wasn't trying to turn sloppy on Theo. He seemed so much more put together than she thought she was and Julia wanted to hold herself together long enough to seem like she belonged in this restaurant.
