[Solved] maternal lines are deleted EFBs
« on: August 17, 2015, 10:45:46 AM »
Corvus' maternal line is currently O'Driscoll - but not the one related to the Morfessa line, but another O'Drisoll line that belonged to one of Lena's characters. That character and the EFB have long since been deleted.

Would it be better for me to pick a new maternal line for Corvus and write an EFB for that? It currently looks like he's related to The Song Faerie' EFB without permission, which obviously was not my intention!!

Likewise, Dieter's maternal line was Czekaj - another now-deleted EFB. Can this be dug up, or should I find him a new maternal line or write a new efb for a new maternal line?

Hey there ~ !

I found both of these for you in the archives. Since the original creators/posters are gone, it might be best to repost from your current played accounts with necessary edits (as in, some of the listed characters aren't played anymore, etc) That way you both you and admin could get another quick look at them just to be sure they're current.

Cáel Tulloch, Corvus Capp

Family line O’Driscoll
Heritage: Pureblood
Location: Ireland
Status: Middle Class
Line of Work: Theatre
History:

Although they are a very respected Pureblood family, the O’Driscoll’s never had a family business. Some of them worked at the Ministry of Magic, Gringotts or different shops during the years. Lately, in the 1900s, the family has started to gravitate towards the Arts, especially ballet and painting. Most of the female members of the family are well known ballerinas, most of them ending up at working at the Irish Opera. Also, many galleries have O’Driscoll paintings displayed.

Now, the O'Driscolls are a family with one, if not both feet firmly inside the theatre door. With a strong emphasis on ballet and with family members also present in all roles of theatre and the arts from opera and on stage roles, to stage management, backstage work and theatre musicians. The Irish Opera is always willing to offer jobs to the O'Driscolls and the family have also purchased a few theatres of their own.

Originating as an Irish travelling family, the O'Driscolls have since settled and dominate several theatres in Ireland. Even though they may have other incomes, their main sources of money are the theatres, mostly because they don't have the habit of hiring many people, since most members of the family are actors and dancers. Some of them quite famous throughout Britain and Ireland. Also, apart from the shows they have, the family have recently opened an acting school, right in the theatre. Available for anyone who is interested, the school is known in Ireland for having the best actors as professors and very good prices.

The family also owns a few small art galleries as well, but those aren't as successful as the theatres and the school.

Ksenija Czekaj, Dijana Czekaj, Dieter Meer

Family line Czekaj
Heritage: Pureblood
Location: Slovenia / Poland
Status: Rich
Line of Work: Floo Powder Production & Export, Coal Mining
History:

Originally from Tarnów, Poland, the Czekaj family have been a prominent member of the magical community in Eastern Europe for several generations. In the mid 1800’s they latched onto the industrial phase that had been powered by the muggles, deciding to use this sudden popularity for coal to their advantage. By using magic the family were able to procure coal at a faster, cheaper and easier rate than any muggles, with low overheads and high revenue they were able to sell the coal on for a higher profit. Czekaj Coal was born. As an organisation they were not fussy who they sold to whether it be muggles or wizards, it didn’t matter – they all paid the same rate for the superior quality fuel. Czekaj Coal soon made excellent returns, building up a small fortune in just a few generations.

Of course, with such a small workforce and high output many questions were raised in the muggle community on how exactly they were procuring the coal, which in turn led to a strict condemnation from the Polish Ministry in regards to being so careless about the International Statute of Secrecy. For several weeks Czekaj Coal was unable to produce to their usual rate, and this regulation meant a massive slump in sales with the company. A false report was created for the muggles, involving a number of cases of “forced overtime” that seemed to sedate the muggles, though it also caused the firm to experience a slow pick up from this point on, as they were now seen to have been mistreating employees when the truth was, these employees who had been forced to work extra were nonexistent. However it had been a necessary intervention on the side of the ministry in order to keep the wizarding world safe.

During World War II business slowed once again, muggles either unable to afford coal or needing to use it on the front line, and in order to gain a better public image Czekaj Coal donated a percentage of their product to the Polish forces in order to assist their country in the war. This turn in events was causing a rapid decrease in sales and added to the lost revenue used to improve the firm’s reputation; they would soon go under if nothing was done. Several members of the family were sent abroad to market the coal to a wider consumer base both in Western Europe and worldwide. Where the ratio of coal going to magical versus muggle markets used to be fairly evenly split the large majority of any coal that the Czekaj's extracted was now exported to wizarding families across the whole of Europe and various countries on other continents where they had found new clients, making the Czekaj's a multinational name synonymous with coal supply.

After the war, the Czekaj’s returned to selling coal to both muggles and wizards, but in the late 1900’s the coal industry was slowly becoming obsolete. This meant a big problem for the family business, so in an effort to keep up with the times, Aleksy Czekaj invested in a new factory, situated in Kraków, where they began producing Floo Powder. The substance was not new but demand was never in short supply, and it was related to their original product. Though Czekaj Coal retained their original name they are now known for producing the magical powder, and a large portion of their revenue now comes from the sale of Floo Powder rather than coal. For the past few decades various branches of the Czekaj tree have moved to other parts of Poland and Eastern Europe, opening a further two factories in Poland alone.

The Czekaj’s are now one of the biggest chains supplying Floo Powder in Europe, and managerial positions are generally retained for family members. There are three factories in Poland; Kraków, Lviv and Poznań. There are a further five in various Eastern European countries, though Tarnów remains the hub of all business decisions. Czekaj Coal still mine coal, though with such a low demand for the fuel they do not invest in it as heavily as they do Floo Powder.

also, I can change the O'Driscoll name if that helps avoid confusion between the other family. x.x
