Watson's deep brown eyes scanned the pulsating crowd under florescent, strobing lights as he internalized the words coming from Brooklyn Matthews' mouth. In any other instance, the wizard would have had trouble catching her quietly confident words through the various distractions, but this situation was entirely different. Instead of struggling, the man found himself discretely hung up on every word as it carried to his ear with ease, a small smirk playing upon his lips as he computed the syllables. It certainly seemed his old friends' sister had a fire that he hadn't noticed at Hogwarts.
"And a rebel?" The tall, dark featured man, spoke through his smile, the cheekiness of his tone hard to miss. Watson clicked his tongue in Brooklyn's ear disapprovingly, his figure just behind hers, his hand still resting with purpose on her side, fingers holding delicately to the fabric of her top. "My, how things have changed, Miss Matthews," He raised his voice over the bass of the music.
A soft laugh escaped Watson's lips at Brooklyns fiery response, his chest swelling with the thrill of a match to his demeanor. It was rare to indulge in a conversation such as this, most women he came across were simply lost on his sense of humor. "They have a terrible reputation you know. Quite nice, really," He argued, taking her glass of water without question and throwing it under his nose.
"Water?" Watson handed the glass back off to Brooklyn, his mouth still near the back of her ear as he avoided the wayward glances from her protective friends. There was no doubt they were on high alert by now. "If you feel like having fun, Miss Matthews," The wizard took a step back, his hand slowly moving from her side as he did. "I'm buying you a drink either way," Watson clarified with a shrug. He wasn't much for chasing women, but if he were, Brooklyn would be the one. "Or am I going to have to physically remove you from your friends," Watson threatened with a sickeningly sweet smile, as he briefly waited for a sign as to how the night would proceed.
