The thirty-four year old man woke up like he did every morning. On the floor of the spare room at Brennan's home. Of course his best mate had a bed, but Owen didn't find them as comfortable as they use to be. Getting up, Owen stretched his back, the familiar sound of bones cracking from laying on a rigid floor all night brought instant relief. Turning on his stereo, Owen turned up the volume and moved to make himself breakfast as The Raspberries began to sing about love changing a man. He wasn't sure if that was true as he has yet to experience it. No that was a lie. There was this woman that he hadn't been able to think about no matter how hard he tried. Even when she had a child, dated
other men who were more...toned than himself. "She wouldn't want some fat slob like yourself Owen," he muttered to himself as he made a cup of early grey tea. Despite having lost most of his weight, Owen still saw himself as the overweight man he use to be.
Akaban wasn't kind to him at all.
The song changed and The Jackson 5 belted out their tune of wanting their girl back. Frowning at the stero he wondered if this was fate pulling a cruel joke on him. It knew that he was going to be starting to teach at Hogwarts this term as the new Muggle Studies Professor. The same place that Olivia Welks worked at, the girl he always loved but could never have. Throwing his tea cup at the stereo, he watched as it shattered against the black muggle item. A sound of breaking glass and nothing more as The Jackson 5 continued their ballad. "Bloody love songs." Grabbing his
shirt, Owen slipped it on as he headed out the front door and towards London city. Not even bothering to turn off the stero as he slammed the door. Brennan could deal with whatever song was playing when he came back.
Having acquired the new position, Owen had needed to live somewhere closer when Hogwarts was out for the Holidays. Of course he was offered to stay on the school grounds but he had declined. He wasn't sure how he would fare living in the school so he decided to play it safe and get his own place. In his right pocket was a piece of parchment stating a wizarding home was for sale in London. It boasted that while it was in a muggle neighborhood, the home was charmed so that no muggle would be aware of it's or the owner's existence. Located in the South Kensington area of London, Owen figured that the fair price tag would be worth checking it out. Since it was an open house there was no surprise that other wizards and witches were looking at the property. After talking to the wizard who was selling the place, Owen began to walk around the four story home.
As he rounded into the kitchen he stopped suddenly and stared at the woman in front of him. Was this fate laughing at him once again? There behind the counter was Olivia, her beautiful auburn hair flowing down to the center of her back. As she began to turn towards his direction he quickly ducked his head behind a large wizard with a pot belly and grey mustache.
"Please don't see me...please don't see me.."
