[Solved] Character creation

Hello I have a sort of unusual question. Maybe two. :D

I'm new, don't have any character - first one is being written. Can I send an application for a special feature? I read that at least two weeks of active role-play are required but my character should have this feature from his childhood, half of the history is constructed on it and the way his character developed and what person he is today - that too. It's not like I want to disobey rules and I especially don't want to anger anyone but I don't know how to do it differently. There's no way I could start without it at first and later send an application for it, that would mean completely changing half of his characteristic, history, family background probably too and even some features.

I don't aim for an elemental, animagus or something this big. I wanted a mutated werewolf. A half-werewolf. Someone who has a bit better senses and has increased strength - maybe - but that's not the main reason I want this feature and definitely not because it's a "special" feature - I just want an interesting character and had an idea for it. What I meant with the word mutated isn't some unrealistic beast but a fact that his body isn't even able to change during full moon beside eyes and teeth and kind of his bones. They would try to change, will shift as the "curse" says which will lead to scorching pain for the whole full moon night. So maybe a stunted werewolf more than a mutated? That's my idea.

The thing is I don't know what to do. Can I send the application or not? And if not what should I do? I just don't want to do anything wrong or disrespect some rules but I really hope there's some way to do it. :)

Hi Lwineah,

As a member, it has been my experience that the admin team generally prefer for someone to join without a special feature to give members time to get used to the site and others a chance to get to know them. However, I will leave it to one of the admins to answer your query with certainty :).

The reason I am replying is to let you know that Toya has applied for a similar feature known as Moon Touched with a character of hers and the application can be found at http://www.magical-hogwarts.org/rpg/index.php?topic=40242.msg1000658192#msg1000658192 . Whether now or later, you could perhaps read over her application to see if the feature she has outlined is of interest to you and if so you could pm her for permission to use it also and plot something out.

I hope my reply has been if help and welcome again to Magical Hogwarts

Tye

Hello Lwineah!

As Tye suggested, it is uncommon for a driver's first character to start off right away with a special feature. We (the admin team) would like to see how well you roleplay with a standard character before considering an application for a special feature. That isn't to say that you couldn't apply for a special feature for that character later on, but for now, we would be less inclined to award any feature without seeing the way you write for some time.

Your half-werewolf idea sounds both like the Moontouched idea that Toya is applying for, and somewhat like what happened to Bill Weasley. If, when you later qualify for a special feature, you are still interested in the half-werewolf idea, you may be able to take elements from both. Other drivers will likely be willing to work with you and help you refine your idea once you have established yourself here on the site.

Please see the following excerpt from the Special Features Guide for more information:

Special features are abilities that are rare and sometimes powerful. They are typically awarded monthly to applicants who have put time and effort into their RPing to show they deserve it. Players who receive special features are usually responsible people who we believe we can trust to play the role fairly without godmoding or cheating using it. These features are awarded to people who have proven they can follow the rules of the board, and that they've found something that fits their character design well.
