When you you switch your master account, you'll lose your bookmarks! Before you make the transition, I recommend the following sequence:
~ Log into your current master
~ Open all your bookmarks in separate tabs perfect opportunity to prune through old threads >>
~ Open a new tab and log out of your current master, then log into your driver/OOC account on that same tab
~ Refresh each tab with the bookmark and click "add to bookmarks"
~ Check to make sure they re-added OK, then log back into your old master account and switch the master field to your OOC account

I assumed this meant when you made the transition yourself, not that admins would do it for you? Because I didn't intend to use the OOC account for a few days until I got used to it but now I've had all my bookmarks wiped and I can't do anything from Dermod's account anymore?

I sorted your driver account and took away dermod's voting privileges, but I didn't touch your bookmarks? I don't know how that happened.

Yeah, I thought I hadn't misread it because Inga and I had a discussion about it last night! There's just no option for bookmarks any more, and I no longer have the dropdown box for Dermod to post as anyone else. It isn't really an issue, I was just surprised...still, we all know that I can do weird things to technology that nobody else can...

Carys, I originally changed this account to my master and then changed back almost right away, only to then learn that only OOC accounts can me made into masters now. Since I temporarily took that away from Eilis, she couldn't be reinstated. If that's what you did, then I'd guess that's what happened.

Otherwise....no clue.

No, I didn't change anything! It's one of life's mysteries apparently xD

I could be wrong, but I think the announcement said the admin team automatically change the OOC account to the master one when sorted and once you have one you can't change it back

Your driver account will become your main/master account, with all of your characters linked to it. Your character accounts will still be used for posting IC, the driver accounts are purely for OOC boards.

I just logged Linnet in, and Dermod's still listed as her master account, although I can't post as her from Dermod any more. Nor can I post as any of my chars from the new account, because I haven't added them, nor have they been added. The option for bookmarks has now appeared on the new account.

I tell you, I repel technology! xD

(and on a related note, not that I can any more, but am I right in thinking nobody can claim any FPP posts atm?)

when you make an ooc account and "get sorted" we switch your privileges over. this includes your "voting" privilege, which has other master account-y things associated with it. so when you make an ooc account, that will be the account that will have the fpp button and bookmarks available.


you'll have to switch in "account settings" the "master account"
please set this yourself to your ooc acocunt



i'm not on my computer atm, @Carys but if @Fee doesn't beat me to it i'll check to make sure your new account is set up with fpp correctly. you won't be able to tell if you don't have any character accounts associated with your driver accounts.

Is it possible to delete the driver account then? I don't *want* to do that, but I can't see any other way around it. I just wanted to create one and let it sit for a while until I could cope with it. I know it's my condition making me freak out but I really can't deal with this <33333

you are not required to have an ooc account
but if you do not, we will not be allowing the change of one character master account to another character

Sorry folks. It wasn't the fact that it would be the master account that was the issue for me. It was the fact that my bookmarks were deleted whereas other people I'd talked with had been able to transfer them over themselves, and I thought that we had the choice to change over to the OOC account in our own time rather than it being done automatically the second we made one.

My mistake. I'd never have created one if I'd realised that wasn't the case.
