Emily's green eyes widened at her new friend's stumbling, and she had to press her lips together to keep from laughing aloud. This was sort of the reason she didn't drink publicly too often -- it was too much a release of inhibition for her to be all that comfortable. Her preference was to keep everything inside. Under lock and key was an even further more attractive preference, but you couldn't always get what you wanted. Somehow, despite that, Emily doubted that Edith would have much to say in the way of judgment as she wasn't the picture of sobriety herself.

Almost robotically, she held her hand out to receive the book and nodded once. "Right. I had better, hadn't I." Silent giggles still bubbling up in her throat, Emily traipsed her way through the shelves and back up to her desk to place the text on top of it for safekeeping. For... when they weren't quite as trollied. "There's a bathroom over in the other corner. I've slept in here before, so there's... toothpaste and stuff in the medicine cabinet, if you want to brush your teeth with your finger or whatever." She stretched and yawned, squinting up at the clock on the wall again and forgetting she'd just done that a minute prior. Jesus, it was getting late. "This is pretty pathetic," She continued, "But I really can't remember the last time I stayed up this late. M'getting old." She shook her head almost as if to rid herself of the notion. She was only twenty-three, after all. Not a relic yet. Not like the kinds she enjoyed digging up, anyway. She wasn't even sure she'd like to live that long even if she were given the option.

Climbing the stairs one by one, both feet on a step before she proceeded to the next, Emily drew her wand from her pocket and conjured some blankets and pillows. Hopefully they didn't disappear in the middle of the night, but if they did, she could just... conjure some more. Seemed fine. She made a face, satisfied with her mediocre work, and kicked her shoes off, listening to one of them thud up against a wall on the other side of the loft. That was a problem she could address later. "Blankets, pillows. If we want anything else I could... maaaaaybe get it?" Her mouth twisted as she winced.

“Right, right.” Edith nodded as Emily mentioned the toilet and brushing her teeth, knowing full well she really ought to do something about that, maybe drink some water, too, but drunk Edith never took her future feelings into consideration and she wasn’t about to start now. She shrugged off Emily’s ‘pathetic’ not super sure what she was referring to, but disagreeing felt like the right thing to do. “Me too, don’t worry,” she added, though this year had had more than its fair share of sleepless nights, but not for any fun reasons like this. But she wasn’t about to bring that up now.

She nodded twice at the words ‘blankets’ and ‘pillows’, her face scrunching into thought as Emily asked if she needed anything else. Edith shrugged, her brain already turning off now that the idea of sleep had been introduced. “Oh wait,” she said suddenly, proud of herself that she had remembered that tomorrow -- today, officially -- was Friday.  “Do you have an alarm? I have to be at work iiiin,” she glanced down at her watch, counting the hours until nine instead of doing any simple math, “four and a half hours.” She laughed before adding an “Oops.” She had no idea when it had gotten so late -- she had just been thinking about popping by to see Elias, but that was probably a better idea when he would be awake and more appreciative -- anyway, point was, it was late.

Edith grabbed a blanket, a soft, plaid one, and plopped down a little too hard on a couple of the pillows. She emptied her pockets and slipped off her glasses and set everything in a haphazard little pile next to her. She punched one of the pillows lightly to shape it into the perfect lump before snuggling up with it, laughing again at nothing in particular. “This is so weird,” she said with a snort, talking about the whole evening, the shots, the new friend, Scotland, Shakespeare, sleeping over. “I love it.” It would probably be much weirder in the morning after some light snoring and heavy drooling, but that yet another something future-Edith could worry about.
