"And the dragon was slayed, saving all the towns people while allowing the knight to bravely rescue the princess."

Green eyes rose from the book he held to land on the sleeping face of his son. Aeric moved to cover the boy with his cover better, kissing him on the forehead before the former Slytherin moved to leave the room. The door was left cracked behind him, giving just enough light for the young boy incase he woke in the night. An arm was lifted so he could glance at his watch. Torrence would be arriving soon and they had much to discuss. Aeric walked the long hall whose walls were lined with the portraits of the great mean who had led their family in their own time. He walked passed the cherry wood desk that held his grandmothers favorite crystal vase and by the chins cabinet that held all the awards and trophies of each Regan kid alike. They were such a close-knit family it was easy to see how they could be vulnerable. Aeric had worked hard to rebuild the shattered foundation left in the wake of his grandfather's death. He'd sought council when needed and only trusted his family with the more important tasks.

His shoulders rolled as his suit jacket was removed to be draped over the back of his chair, long legs carrying him over to the fireplace. He stared down into the flames as the licked along the bricked in walls surrounding them. Sometimes he had to make the hard call, they all had to make choices that would haunt them at a night. The nature of the business was do what needed to be done because sometimes it was the only way. Strong hands slid into finely tailored dress pants as he turned to look around the old-fashioned office he'd taken over. It spoke business with it's various books lining the walls on the shelves that had been put in when Aeric took over. His mahogany desk sat in nearly in the center of the room, just off the fireplace. He moved over to the bar to pour himself a glass of scotch, using one hand expertly.

Green eyes shifted as Niko entered the room only giving a nod of his head as he did so. Having the man constantly around him had at first been annoying, but knew he understood that keeping him alive may very well be important. "You can have the rest of the night off, Niko. I'll be fine." He lifted his glass to the other man before taking a sip, moving back over the the fireplace stamping the conversations with a period as he did so. So much had changed since the attack on the family, since Cassie had received the heard and Kerr had been attacked. The fine crystal was lifted to his lips to take a sip before he started speaking. "Someone once told me that family binds us to a certain place. That not even our actions can make the faith we have in each other waver." He gave a chuckled before he turned to see who had entered the room. His owl had been simple and straight to the point. It read: Torr, I have a favor to ask of you -- Aeric.

He needed the other man's skills as well as his wit. Aeric moved across the area to place his glass on the desk, using his now free hand to toy with the buttons of his vest for a moment. "I appreciate you coming on such short notice. Drink?" His head inclined towards the bar as he moved to sit on the edge of his desk.
