It was unlike Dev to put down her clipboard and relax. However, she was affording herself a rare treat -- a nice gin martini with lemon peel, compliments of the house, obviously. She wasn't in the mood for anything fancy and really just wanted to drink something that would take the edge off before things really took off and rolled down the hill for the night. Friday nights were busy for Nightshade. The band was sound-checking on the stage and there were scattered clumps of people situated round the roof already, which was a pleasant sight. Devasha couldn't remember, aside from the period just after the wizarding war had concluded, that the club had struggled on a Friday night. There was always plenty of business and always plenty of fun to be had.

She preferred that people didn't know she was the owner while she strolled around at night. They acted weird and out of their element if they knew, so Devasha kept the information to herself unless, of course, she was asked. There were plenty of regulars who knew who she was and felt comfortable, and she noticed some of them walking up through the steel set of stairs leading to the rooftop. Dev gave them what most resembled a warm smile on her face and took another drink of her martini, then paused to take in and appreciate her surroundings. The roof had to be her favorite level of them all. No matter how much she loved noisy club tunes and a nice double-shot of espresso, it was hard to deny the charm -- literally -- of the roof of Deadly Nightshade. There were strings of lights covering every major piece of infrastructure, multi-leveled landings with furniture on them, plenty of seating by and around the bar, and of course, the stage. Firepits scattered the area for colder nights, and the roof was charmed to sit just high enough to take in the view of the magnificent River Thames. Well, really, all the levels were charmed -- the original building hadn't been tall enough to suit her needs and so it had been remodeled and glamourized just a little to do just that. Devasha thanked her N.E.W.T. in Charms class for those nifty skills.

Four parts gin and one part vermouth finished, Devasha swiveled gracefully around on the bar stool and stood, her heels clip-clopping just a little on the wooden flooring of the deck. One girl was standing by herself and, by the looks of it, had most definitely been staring at her finishing her drink. Devasha quite doubted that she was lost or needed help, but she was the owner, after all, and it was her job to serve her patrons.

She missed Giselle. Socializing with other people would be good. Healthy. Might've been a useful device in pulling her out of the grief that seemed to consistently eat away at her innards as of late. Dev offered a closed-lipped smile to the brunette and approached her, noting the as-per-usual height difference between them, all the more accentuated by her heeled, knee-high leather boots. "Hey there. How's it going?" Devasha asked in her quiet, slightly-smoky feminine voice, lilting a little at the end to make the question seem friendly and not prying. People skills. "Need help finding something? I'm sure you weren't able to quite miss the bar." Dev knew she wasn't being funny, but it was sort of nice to try to be sometimes. She went on, starting the sentence with a slow onset and barrelling on the further she went. "Anyway, I... saw you standing by yourself and my concern was piqued. Just thought I'd come over."

Stood in a dark corner of the bar, Luciana was sipping quietly on her sidecar. She didn’t tend to make a habit of frequenting bars alone, and she hadn’t intended to stay by herself – Kerr had mentioned going to London, and Lucia had jumped at the chance. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, he’d met up with some school friends. They’d had a round of drinks here, on one of the lower levels, then left for another nightclub nearby which was apparently more their scene. Already on a light buzz from the first couple of drinks Luciana had decided to explore a little, and the rooftop had sold the place for her. The view over the city with all of its dazzling lights and the warmth from the braziers were more appealing than following her cousin to a room full of bodies jostling to music she didn’t like.

So here she was; her back resting on a bar leaner, long legs crossed at the ankles. The Italian was wearing a dark velvet plum-coloured dress, with a plunging neckline and long sleeves. Her thick, dark hair was tumbling over her shoulders in large curls, and Luciana’s doe-eyed gaze kept being drawn by a woman at the bar. There were plenty of other people here, but they were all seemingly coupled up or in larger groups. This woman, like Luciana, was apparently alone. In her head, Luci began coming up with fictitious back stories – ideas as to why anyone would be sat at the bar alone, drinking cocktails, was she waiting to meet someone? Avoiding an ex lover? Here for an affair? Perhaps she just enjoyed her own company.

Luciana’s eyes widened as the woman stood and began coming her way – the elemental hadn’t realised how intently she’d been focused on her. As the dark-haired woman came closer, Luciana took another sip from her glass – not looking away as the cool liquid warmed her throat and clouded her thoughts a little more. She was very attractive. The notion came in without warning; Luciana had never really thought objectively about her sexuality. She’d only ever had relationships with boys, but she couldn’t deny that she often looked at other women. She hadn’t considered dating someone of the same sex, but there had always been a little bubble of curiosity about what it would be like to be with another woman. The closest she’d got was a drunken kiss with a friend, but that hadn’t been over genuine attraction.

Doing her best to seem nonchalant, Luciana returned the close-lipped smile, “Hello.” She felt her cheeks warm slightly, thankful for the dim lighting. “I’m pretty good,” her thick Italian accent just evident above the music as she spoke. “thank you.”  Up close, the woman was much taller than she’d seemed from across the deck – Luciana was wearing heels, but so was her new friend. There appeared to be an age difference too, but Luci couldn’t quite put her finger on how old the woman might be – she seemed to give off an aura of maturity, yet she had deceivingly fresh skin.

“Oh, mm, I found the bar.” Luciana picked the garnish from the edge of her glass with her manicured nails and took a bite of the orange wedge, “Well it’s not a very interesting story.” She offered, quickly licking her lips, “I came with my cousin, but he thought the bar around the corner would have more single girls.” The elemental smiled wryly, “Do you come here often?”
