"I don't really care though?" She questioned the older wizard who was trying to explain to her which places she could go to learn about future possible careers. Miha wasn't trying to be rude to him but in all honesty she could not of cared less about a future in politics or learning to be a potioneer. She had known what she was going to be since she was a tiny witch. Since before she'd gone off to Durmstrang. Since before she'd even owned a wand. She knew her place in society and she had always found a firm comfort in that. As part of the Lupesco family line she had a responsibility to her town and it certainly wasn't going to be something boring like a ministry official or wife. Nope she was going to be a warrior. A protector. She had her named signed up for the trials to become part of the Night's Triumph since she was a child. She'd been training for it all of her life and this career fair was nothing more than a distraction to her.

"I don't need that, but thank you." She said, disregarding his attempt to hand her a pamphlet about the different shops and careers that were waiting for her out there in the world. After Durmstrang there was only one place she would call home and that was and would forever be Scoarta. Unlike her older sister Noa, Mihaela had no problems being tied to the town that had raised her. She wanted to give back to her people, she wanted to be a part of something bigger than herself. She tossed curled long brown strands off of her shoulder and thought about pulling up the hood of her thick cloak and taking off but instead she stayed. They had to do an essay on their activities for the day so she knew she at least had to stay long enough to fake it when it came time to write the assignment. She wasn't about to spend the day learning about the paperwork that apparently made the world work.

"Can you believe we have to do a paper on this." She said to the person next to her, not noticing who it was until the scent of his cologne reached her nose. She felt a strange, nervous, twinge in the pit of her stomach and tried to push it away. Mihaela Lupesco didn't get scared. "Oh, hey Gio." She said slower than she normally would of to her best friend. She had been avoiding him since the summer and it was something she was not afraid to admit. After their quick winded and awkward first kiss things between them had changed drastically. It was like she saw him differently but not necessarily in a bad way. . She'd thought maybe they were going to date but life had a different course in mind. Instead the kiss had shaken their friendship and dashed any possibilities of a romantic relationship between them.

Despite trying to act normal she felt her nerves tingling all the way down to her combat boots. They were still friends right? That hadn't changed. In that moment she realized how much she had missed him. "How's it going?" She asked, hoping he wasn't mad at her for anything. Mihaela had a tendency to irritate people without even knowing it, so it wasn't exactly out of the question.

“These herbs do what again?”

Gio's voice cut through the man’s presentation as he leafed through the reading materials on the table, the herbologist seemed pleased to have a question asked. Sadly, Gio only cared about one thing and that was helping his mother get better. His kind hadn’t been on this fair or the paper they were forced to write after. He’d known that once he was old enough to he’d b groomed to take his mother’s place. He'd trained beside Miha with, and without, the watchful eye of the elders of their small village. He never planned to have a desk job and the likelihood he would live long enough to have a family of his own was slim. “Right, so crushed and not liquefied.” The long strands of his blonde hair swayed along with his nod before he turned to walk along the line of disinterested kids. “One second..” he moved along, blue eyes dropping to watch as he readjusted the leather bracelets on either wrist, a gift from…

His chest stopped as his breath was head, brows furrowing tightly as the familiar sound of her voice touched his ears. He’d avoided her like the plague and it would during this terrible terrible look into the future that he would meet her again. Gio didn’t look up, hoping that she would walk by without seeing him, but then she was addressing him. Saying hello in a way that let him know that nothing was the same, it never would be. A strong hand rose to push his hair back from his face as his gaze rose to look at her. His chest felt tight, weighed down, by the mistake made over the summer. He’d b stupid enough to go against his better judgment and shared a kiss that had destroyed what the boy thought was a unbreakable bond. He should have seen it coming, they had barely spent time together while their halls were filled with unwanted students and a rather crazy woman leading them. “Hey…” the uneasy tone to his voice caused his to divert his gaze.

It couldn’t be this hard to fall back into the patterns that had been their friendship. He suddenly felt warm and his stomach uneasy as his weight shifted. There was so much he wanted to talk to just her about but he knew now he never could. There would be no silly banter and running behind each other in the woods. There would be no laughter and inside jokes, no he’d ban replaced. He knew he had. “Right…it goes good.” He replied before he moved to walk away from her. He couldn’t s the things he wanted and he couldn’t be who he had once been, not with her. What he had hoped would turn into a relationship now hung sadly in the air, a tension that was neither good or bad but somewhere in between.  “What about you, been busy?” He muttered in a tone that didn’t suit his otherwise calm disposition.

He paused, shoulders lifting as he took a deep breath. “You stopped being my friend so I’m not sure what this conversation is supposed to be or where it’s supposed to go.” The thick leather bound to his wrist shifted as he raised a hand, “I get it, you know.” But he didn't, he couldn’t make sense of it. How a lifetime of friendship could end so abruptly, even if he had a hand to play in it’s demise. His head shook a bit as he looked at her again, the fine strings of his heart tugging,  reminding him how much he missed her. So much of who he was had been discovered with her by his side that none he felt half himself, empty and the void ached in a way he never thought he could. “I’ll ask to be taken out of your group when we get home so you don’t have avoid me anymore.” So, he wouldn’t have to. It was truly exhausting but more than that it reminded him of how alone he would be if his mother never got better, if he was left to care for his sister’s and the weight of his responsibilities crushed him without regard of his wants and needs.

There was a pain in her chest like she'd never felt before as his words fell upon her like stones. It was way too painful to be indigestion but it wasn't like being stabbed, that she could of handled, but this was something entirely different. It might of been guilt or heart break but honestly she was so unfamiliar with the feeling that she couldn't identify it. Having real, close friends she could rely on in life or death situations was unlikely for someone like Mihaela. She was selfish and annoying and frankly kind of absurd but Gio had been one of those few. She was someone he could trust to have her back when things got dangerous and now she felt like she had thrown it all down the drain. They'd grown up together in a town where you had to trust your neighboor and fear everything past your back door. They had become the people they were because of one another. They had spent so much time together.

And now it was like they were strangers.

She felt that pain in her chest swelling up again as he spoke and for one of the few times in her short life she was rendered speechless. Mihaela Lupesco, the girl who never shut up, was at a loss for words. She just stood there strangely staring at him and silently wishing everything could go back to normal. She remembered last year so acutely she thought she might cry. They had been so close and she was pretty sure she was in love with him. Puppy love maybe, teenage love, but that didn't mean it meant any less. And then they had nearly become an item but something had stopped them. Something she barely even remembered after the emptiness that had followed. Romantic or not there was a hole in her life that their friendship used to fill and she hated it.

Swallowing hard she crossed her arms at him. It would have been nice if she could apologize, clear the air, or hell even meet him half way but instead she did what she always did when things got tough: she made things worse. Growing defensive the Romanian took a hard stance and shook her head at him. "I ain't avoiding nothing." She lied through her buck teeth and continuing without a breath.
"But if your too good to be in my group then fine, do what you want."

More than anything she wanted to be in his group, to be his friend again, anything just to have him back in her life without this weirdness but that clearly wasn't going to be attained easily. Mihaela stared at him like she would a stranger she was unsure about and waited for him to make the next move.
When I die, let the wolves enjoy my bones. When I die, let me go.

When I die, let the flames devour me. When I die, set me free.
