[Announcement] Student Government Elections!

It's that time of year! Elections for Student Senate, Student Vice Presidents, and Student President for the 2002-2003 school year will take place at the end of June playtime. Campaigning takes place in May and June; signs, posters, and side deals are commonplace. For more information, consult the Ilvermorny Guide.

The Senate is made up of twenty-four students, one from each house and year. They help share students' ideas, concerns, and interests with school faculty and help plan school-wide activities, such as social events, organize community projects in and around Shackamaxon, and help tutor the younger students.

Two Vice Presidents will be elected, one incoming fifth year and one incoming sixth year. The Veeps assist the President and act as ambassadors of the students to the President and faculty. They are often in charge of planning social events and community projects.

Candidates for President must be incoming seventh years. One will be elected to lead the Student Senate and act as the formal ambassador of the students to the faculty. Rumor has it that Student President Elects are guaranteed Internships at MACUSA.

All candidates must be dedicated to leadership, advocacy, communication, and above all, school spirit.

Why should students vote for you? The future of North America starts here, at Ilvermorny. We ought to be the generation that doesn’t let politics divide us. The world is a scary place but when we work together and strive for a better education, and better training for the real world, a better understanding of everything and everyone we might face, we will have a better chance out there. This campaign isn’t about me. It’s about us -- it’s about what we can do together.

Why should students vote for you? As a second year senate member ones vote will not only represents the opinion of the second years but also the first years. Why should students vote for you? I have been serving as your representative for several terms now and have always done my best to represent Pukwudgie honorably. I am committed to thinking about issues broadly and deeply; not just those that concern our year, but also those that affect our school, Shackamaxon, and the American wizarding community broadly. I hope that I am approachable and can serve as an effective and fair liaison between our house and the rest of the school.

Why should students vote for you? Hi! Students should vote for me because I will help in every way I can to make sure everyone is happy in our year and help out the incoming first years get around Ilvermorny! I'll talk with professors and staff about things that upset us, and see if we can find a middle ground. I would like to help out with planning fun activities everyone can do too, and I have a lot of ideas that would be fun for even seventh years.
