August 25: Pavel Yuryevich Petrov, lawyer and younger brother of wizengamot Nikolai Yuryevich Petrov, is found dead in one of the Ministry’s courtrooms. His wand is missing and the only clue left behind is a Queen of Cups tarot card, painted in several shades of red. It is assumed he was murdered through the usage of the Killing Curse.

Muggleborns and halfbloods all over Russia interpret the assassination of a Petrov as a statement that times are changing. Kasimir Lazarevich Krupin is becoming more popular than ever before, the masses enjoying that, for once, purebloods are the victims of a crime. The Durmstrang move to Sweden has encouraged muggleborns and halfbloods to voice their opinions, protests cheering for ‘the Red Queen’ being organised by several activist groups.

As a dangerous murderer is on the loose, parents trust that Koldovstoretz is the safest place for their children. The school has several layers of protective charms and enchantments placed, and students are strongly advised to not venture around the school after curfew.
