Sticking very close to Sam, almost bumping into him as they walked to the door of the Cafe, Enitan wished he was the one carrying the bag. He could do it one handed, and she could easily have held his hand then. She really wanted to. She just wanted to hold tightly to him so the child snatching ministry woman couldn’t grab her as soon as they got outside and take her away. Once they were outside, she made sure to stand on the other side of Sam from the woman. Just in case… sure maybe she was being overly cautious. But Hunter had taught her that there really wasn’t any such thing. And he was almost always right. She really couldn't think of any time when he had been wrong, but no one was right every single time. That wasn’t how it worked.
They got into the shop, and Sam quickly busied himself with getting rid of the customer. Enitan liked Mrs. Danvers of course, she usually snuck her a caramel candy every time she came in. of course Sam knew about it, but the two of them pretended he didn’t for the older woman’s sake. If the nice lady wanted to think she was being sneaky, Enitan didn’t see why they couldn’t let her. And she really liked caramel anyways. True to form, Enitan let out a choked back snerk when she asked if Joanna was Sam’s girlfriend. “No, my dad’s girlfriend is actually nice.†she muttered, before putting the bac down on the counter when Sam suggested it. “Have a nice day Mrs. Danvers.†she added actually out loud this time before ducking around to check the chair, and grinned, pulling out the caramel and stuffing it into her pocket Of course she’d left her the candy.
“This is my Chair.†she said, answering Joanna’s question. “My reading chair at least. I like books. Right now I’m almost done Matilda. Its about a No-maj girl who has a really mean family, but she’s awesome and super smart, and uses her magic powers to get away from the mean people. And in the end gets to live with her really nice teacher. But you probably would have arrested her, too.†Enitan didn’t even realize she’d once again switched to the american word for muggles, flopping down in her armchair. “But sometimes I draw at the counter, and once I went home with my Grandpa and got to learn how to make apple tarts with my grandma. And yesterday I helped Ms. Jennings pick out a new self-filling tea kettle for her kitchen. Though i still think she should have taken the yellow one with the pink flowers.†she had been so distracted by explaining to Joanna that she was perfectly well watched and entertained while Sam minded the shop that she hadn’t even noticed the note.
“Can I have the apple now? Or do I have to wait till we get back to the appart---Flat.â€
