Under her three layers of blankets Aurelia rolled over for the third time. Tomorrow was Christmas and her parents used to spend the night tucking her in kissing her forehead. They used to tell her to hurry up and get to sleep or the Père Noël’s elves will not bring her the christmas presents down to the fireplace. The teenage witch was too old to believe in all that mythology, but a part of her worried that if she didn't get to sleep soon there would not be any gifts coming morning. Blinking her bluish-green eyes she stared up at her dark ceiling. Still no matter how much she tried, how long she closed her eyes or what position she was in, she couldn't seem to fall asleep. She rationalized that
I could get the gifts I made for my siblings and parents out now. Because I am probably going to be too tired to get up to early in the morning... and maybe then I can make myself a cacao chaud. Yes, a warm coco milk would help me relax. Slipping out of her narrow canopy bed her longed woolen socks touched down on the cool wooded floor. Shesiveredsligtly before pulling her
the knitted pink throw on to her shoulders of her
hand me-down winter nightgown. Quietly the Belle opened her school trunk and pulled out seven packages she had wrapped in recycled brown packaging paper. Each tied with a different color piece of yarn, and labeled with a small tag of parchment with the young witches curly scrawling hand for each of her family members. With her arms full she slipped out the door and walked down the hallway. All her siblings rooms appeared closed. No light shined under the doors. SHe giggled to herself thinking that they might be surprised by the packages sudden unexplained appearance at the fireplace, that they might even believe that elves did drop it off.
After turning down the stair, which squeaked a bit from all the many Sassevilles that use it. Aurelia noticed the light for the fireplace was casting a warm glow on the cosy living room floor and up the stairwell. The fourth year was a little worried that it was left unattended for she just learned about Ashwinders in her magical beasts class. Yet as Aurelia reached the bottom of the stairs she was relieved to find that the fireplace was not unattended, but instead recognized the thin long hair brunette in front of it.
“Hi Sabrina. I could not sleep.” The youngest Sasseville announced. The girl looked over her older sister and wondered if she was having the same problem. Until she realized that it was possible that her older sister was up not just because of insomnia, but her often sick sister might be having on of her episodes. Fee of having an emergency trip to the hospible she asked her sister as she stepped forward to see her face. “You are not feeling ill again are you?”
